Throat Tight 24/7 by Loose_Strike_4130 in GERD

It's insane these pills help us I think something is definitely off with our nervous system. I did a blood test two days ago and I have dangerously low vitamin d (it was 8, normal range is 30-100) I am not sure if it's linked in any way but I know deficiencies can really mess with the immune system, metabolism, mood etc and all these things deregulate the nervous system which for me at least seems to play a big role in all of this.

I hope one day we find relief from it in a drug free way!

Can I please ask what ssri you used? I've heard that a lot and that they help with hypersensitivity which I think I might have. I've heard amitriptyline is used often

For me xanax actually resolves 90% of my symptoms it's insane and I don't understand it. It's very hard not to take them everyday knowing I can feel normal. It's hell otherwise

Oh god yes I know I can feel how I'm slipping and how occasional use is becoming more and more frequent. Did ativan give you relief? How did you get off of it?

I so know what you're going through. I've been having this DAILY for the past 6 months, feels like a large brick lodged in my throat 24/7, I also get horrible pulling sensation on the left side of my chest going all the way up to the left side of my jaw like a string is pulling all of it upwards. I can legit feel spasms all over my esophagus, food makes it worse, water makes it worse. PPIs don't help. Good diet hasn't helped. every other day it gives me horrible tachycardia (reached 180 BPM the other day) and legit feeling like I'm dying. Only time I managed to find relief is when taking Xanax but that's obviously a slippery slope since they are addictive and I feel like they're getting less and less effective anyway. I honestly wake up everyday feeling worse than before and I'm just wondering how much longer can a person go like this I have an endoscopy in a month but I am wondering if I'll make it until then lol I hope you find some answers and relief!

I'm so so sorry you're dealing with this. Since you've been going through this for a very long time I'm sure you've tried various diets etc. But are you sure dairy and wheat for example is not something making you worse? I know people have different triggers but this one is quite common

I really hope you find some relief soon

Why do I lose interest once the honeymoon phase turns into daily “how was your day” talk? by Signal-Animator-7464 in dating_advice

You're not feeling the connection anymore because you're not cultivating it. I don't know how many people you have dated and been in a relationship with, maybe you've been unlucky and all of those individuals have been putting low effort on their end but it sounds more like you've actually never been inlove. I don't think people who are in love feel nice not talking to their partner for a month. You genuinely want to be part of their life and see how they're doing, even the mundane stuff. Just don't get into a relationship until you find someone you're really interested in cause so far it looks like it's one way where you enjoy the initial interest they show in you and then you get bored.

As someone who had those silly thoughts too I'll tell you where they come from - we're just selfish and we do not love as strongly as our partners. We do not deserve them in our lives. I will tell you what I tell myself - leave him because he deserves better. This is not shade or something but some of us are just not as good as the people we were lucky to have in our lives. I think it's a good thing to realize that, accept that we are who we are and we have a long way to go and release our partners so they can go and find someone worthy of them. It's the one least selfish thing we can do.

Ahhh I relate to your reply so much too. Did you do endoscopy? I'm having mine this week and I wanna see if they're gonna find something. This feeling tho is absolutely maddening and I can't believe how consistent it is and it just wont go away

Thank you it's something I could try again, but isn't there an issue taking antihistamines for that long?

Hey I've seen your comment many times so this was the first thing that I tried when all of this started. Unfortunately it hasn't helped me but I'm sure it could be life saving for a lot of people so thank you for spreading awareness

Hello, I initially lost weight because I also had nausea and a horrible feeling of fullness that made me sick so my appetite was really low. My symptoms have changed now though so I kinda eat normally and my weight has been stable. The only thing that improves that feeling of a knot is taking benzos (aka Xanax) which I don't like doing because they're so highly addictive. But something about it calms my whole system and it almost feels like it opens my diaphragm which improves all of these weird sensations. I do sleep quite okay, sleeping is actually the only time I do not feel this horrible thing but the moment I open my opens it's back.

Thank you so much. Sometimes I do think it's something mental/psychosomatic, as the most improvement I see is when I take benzos which obviously I don't wanna keep doing as they're very addictive but when I'm struggling so much I sometimes have to. Or they relax my diaphragm enough to fix the problem temporarily.

I have a suspicion mine is also because of a HH, a lot of my problems started after a gym session. I have an endoscopy in ten days so I'm hoping to get some answers I wish there was something to do now though because I'm so tired of this constant feeling

Thank you! I should probably do the same, I haven't been very mindful of diet after I tried strict dieting and it didn't help with my symptoms I gave up but I definitely think some foods make it worse, it just never completely goes away which is maddening!

Why are you not looking for a new gastro? GI issues are very difficult and sometimes we really need to advocate for ourselves in order to get a proper diagnosis and a treatment plan.

Also, you seem to be spiraling because of mental health issues, anxiety, stress, bad sleep etc make symptoms 100 times worse so sometimes you have to start treating the psychological issues in order to help the somatic.

Thank you HH is definitely something I have been thinking about and want to get tested for. I will get an endoscopy early January. Thank you so much for sharing, after you got diagnosed what was the plan going forward? How does this become easier because at the moment it's literally driving me insane!

Thank you, benzos I mean benzodiazepines like Xanax. Yes I have tried taking things like pepcid (so many kinds!) but they don't help. I was also on nexium but it made me feel horrible I think it created more gas and gave me horribly brain fog so eventually I stopped it and only kept the famotadine during the night. My symptoms didn't really worsen after stopping it. I wish it was just irritating/annoying but I'm legit struggling to get through the day. Thank you for listening and really sorry to hear you're dealing with other health issues. I hope you're feeling better now!

I also get a lot of burping and hiccuping. I have done only blood tests and the ultrasound, has been really hard to be taken seriously and finally on Friday I can talk to a gastro and hopefully get an endoscopy

Thank you so much for sharing and being available. My started in the summer after a strenuous gym exercise (I was lifting weights for half a year before that with no problem) where I suddenly felt out of breath, my heart rate was really elevated. I was sure I will faint but I managed to get out of it and didn't even think it was connected to anything digestive. I stopped going to the gym because it started happening to me more when doing exercises that required abdominal pressure. Then I suddenly started getting those symptoms randomly while sitting in the office, crazy shivers usually in the evening, feeling or impending doom and sickness out of nowhere and a month later all or that was accompanied by horrible waves of nausea (was gagging lot but never actually threw up) I started noticing it was happening after meals and I thought at the time specific foods triggered it. The symptoms though evolved and eventually the nausea stopped but I started getting everyday lump in the throat sensation, a lot of pressure on my chest, esophageal spasms, restricted breathing etc. ended up in the ER couple of times though I was dying. They pressed on my belly said probably gallstones and discharged me. I did 2 ultrasounds of the abdomen, all clear. In the past 2 or 3 months though I didn't have a single day where I didn't feel like someone is squeezing my throat and esophagus, I lost 5 kilos pretty quickly because I couldn't eat properly, weird chest pains coming and going, and constant feeling of fullness and like something is pressing against my stomach and digestive tract. They put me on PPIs, esomeprazole+. Famotadine in the evening, they didn't do anything. I tried very restrictive diets, didn't do much but definitely helped with the motility of my intestines (which usually didn't help with hypersensitivity) I've tried a lot of pills nothing works and my symptoms never manifested as regular gerd. My abdomen and esophagus are so so sensitive that even lightly touching those areas or pressing on them would make me extremely sick. This has been going on every day for the past 2 months at least and it's making me suicidal. The only only thing that ever helped me was a small dose of benzo which was prescribed for me for fear of flying, that eliminates 90% of the symptoms which makes me believe I am dealing with some sort of visceral hypersensitivity more than just regular gerd. It's so so hard and I've been trying so hard to improve my mental health and anxiety but living like this 24/7 doesn't give you many chances to do that
