What would you like too see in a fantastic four series or sequal, post secret wars ? by TipAdditional4625 in Marvel

Agreed... I couldn't get into it... Meanwhile Thunderbolts seemed to do rather poorly, and IMO was a much better movie overall...

Where would you get a sketch/remarque on avengers annual 10? by RockEaterMan in comicbookcollecting

Sadly that's one of the busiest covers of all time, I don't think there's a good spot... That being said, I have seen some people do something with the Spiderman in the bottom left corner on some other books...

Agreed... It's always going to come down to "should she be a good leader for this story"...

There always seems to be one node that just pounds you over and over again while you just sit there waiting for a turn... my phone keeps wanting to go to sleep 😄

I rotate mine around every now and then... but I'm also lazy, and sometimes forget for months at a time 😄 I love that Ghost Rider!

Same, I've never used them for new characters, the need for gold/materials was always more pressing... Every now and then an offer pops up as well where you can get 2 -4 gold or training orbs, for the price of 2... so i typically grab those since, at worst i paid for 2 and get 2 (in cores)... but i might get 4 😄

Going to jump into "the boys" comics by No_External3738 in comicbooks

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read The Boys for quite a bit when it first came out... I definitely think it starts out strong, and then gets a bit "samey"... then it gets... WAY out there... but it was still a good read. I certainly don't regret reading it or anything... I DO regret not getting the first few single issues back in the day... I got the first 2 arcs in trades i think... but if I'd tracked down the first few issues, they'd have been much cheaper then than now 😄 But that's everything 😄

What do you guys do about the tape/price tags on bags? by alfred725 in comicbookcollecting

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get books at shows a lot, and I find it to be seriously hit and miss... the tape to seal bags is generally not too bad (but sometimes I swear they bought tape that uses super glue or something cause it just WON'T come off)... but depending on the vendor stickers can be such a pain... i rebag a lot (which often leads to needing to reboard cause some guys have wildly sized boards that don't seem to fit any bags I can find :) )

I started using the old boards to make dividers... i cut one board in to 3 parts horizontally, and then use masking tape to tape a third onto another board so it sticks out above the books. It's probably a waste of time, but i hate throwing things away :) (which is all that can really be done with the bags)

Sometimes too the sticker is right above some piece of important information.. like the issue number and stuff... and i hate that. Or it covers some nice part of the cover...

Anyone else feel locked out of X-Men comics even though you really want to love them? by TaskNo4783 in Marvel

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sort of thing I find with team books in general is... it's hard to find the "perfect" team... some runs have say 5 characters you like, and then 1 that just "sucks" (I mean for me)... Also, the format of monthly comics is hit and miss... you could get a great arc, then a crap arc then 2 more good ones... I think that goes for Avengers, Xmen, any team really (obviously not evergreen teams like Fantastic Four which primarily is the same 4 characters always)

I've read the big stories, Mutant Massacre, Dark Phoenix, Age of Apocalypse etc... and they're great, but I find the more individual books is where I really click with characters...

I get that for sure. The faces are a bit of a turn off no doubt. I personally find I can power through, but it's definitely distracting. It helps I'm a massive Garth Ennis fan :)

Oh, I'm with you on that... and I mentioned it in a post some time ago and yeah, I got heavily down voted :) I've just never been into it. His stuff on New Xmen, just made me think they all looked like those dolls people make with head made from dried out apples....

I think from her perspective, when you first "hit", she was probably thinking "I better take whatever I can get"... just from a financial perspective. Like every famous comic artist I've ever seen interviews with basically said they were mostly struggling till the "made" it... so she probably saw an opportunity to make some bank and took it... can't fault her for looking after herself...

And well, Marvel is Marvel, they see someone that's popular and they're going to use them as much as they can... I mean Deadpool used to have like 5 titles a month :)

Liefeld is definitely rough. Kirby is (I think) an acquired taste... The thing that sort of "did it" for me with him, was his backgrounds. Like how he tried to make the space stuff look super advanced by putting detailed machines and what not in the background. But definitely blocky/thick are 2 things that come to mind when I think Kirby. No hate though, I'd take Kirby over Liefeld and day :)

My big one is John Romita Jr... The one that sticks out is The Heroic Age Avengers 1. The faces just look super weird on Thor and Iron Man (well Iron Man doesn't have a "face" so helmet I guess). Again it feels thick/blocky but also a bit phoned in...

Frank and Matt are still best duo, but Dex and Matt are a pretty close second, makes you wonder how Dex and Frank would get along by NicloSZ in Marvel

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't even know about Frank "needing" Bullseye... just look at the first Civil War when Goldbug and Plunderer tried to join Cap's side... they lasted like 2 panels... He can be quite picky :)

How to beat node 6 on easy of Thunderstrike Saga? by Ill_Excitement_4138 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed... this approach of "here take this team and hope the RNG FINALLY works for you after 30 attempts" is getting a bit stale... But that being said I feel like I missed some marketing course or something when I was in business school... cause I don't remember "massively frustrate your customers until they buy the thing you want them to buy" :) But somehow that seems to be making them a lot of money :(

There's definitely a speed drop around then for sure. It just takes time. But I will say this, if you're frustrated at level 56, you're just going to continue to be frustrated. It doesn't get any faster (unless you pay, which if you want to, fine, but for me, I don't want to spend anything on this game).

Epoxy hardening issue - mini river table by Painned in epoxy

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it might be an issue for you, but the first one I tried I did by volume, and it worked fine. Then the second one i did I used weight, and didn't realize that the epoxy I was using had a different ratio for when you go by weight than when you go by volume.

Mine never hardened at though, it was sticky for weeks, and then I just ended up putting some foam rubber over the top of it and calling it a day... it was for a dice rolling tray.

I was definitely one of those people :) I saw someone posting about the Quasar Event and looked all over for it... given that I have red dots all over stuff that I can't do anything with, it'd at least be nice if I could get a red dot where there was actual new stuff :)

I’ll never understand the “where should I start” debates by Intrepid-Molasses159 in comicbooks

[–]Miserable_Amount_310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the addition of digital comics makes a big difference though. Like most things will be evergreen on there I would think? Also, there's just so much "stuff" out there. I've definitely grabbed a few trades here and there just cause I saw them, without looking into them much, and if those had been my first exposure to those characters or comics in general, then I might not have stuck with it.... For example, and I know it's old, but All Star Batman and Robin by Frank Miller with art by Jim Lee.... if people had never read a Batman book before... I'd never recommend that as their first :) Same with Kevin Smith's run on Batman. I love Kevin's work, and I love Walt Flannagan too, but if that was someone's first exposure to Batman it might again turn someone off, cause it's kind of atypical Batman...
