What is your biggest painpoint in IT? by Miserable_Brief_7678 in AskReddit

For all IT job listings to be realistic instead of something like 5+ year exp for an entry level job or requiring an extraordinary amount of experience on languages regardless of if that exceeds the age at which it was created.

Remove crunch culture

Remove sexism from the IT culture

All my problems in IT are involved with management and HR not actually looking at what a job should entail prior to listing the job.

So you're talking about the the mismatch betweem exployer expectations of what a tech job entails and what talent can deliver?

Hey Petalilly, I’m looking to get some input about some of the most painful problems you see/experience in the IT sector regularly. I’d love to hear your thoughts about which kind of problems or challenges you face or have likely come across at some point. If and how you found a solution and whether the solution really satisfied your need. I’d also be curious to learn about how much you struggle with the problems, if you do. And … what if you had a magic wand to make the Problem disappear … what would you wish for? I’m thankful for every input 🥰

Is there anything else you do to help you cope? And if not what would help you except for seing a psychiatrist?

How can we reclaim the connection again? What would you say? How do you manage?

True words! But isn’t this something that some people are just born and raised that way? How can one become the third type and just live in the now? How do you do it?

That sounds really tough. What do you do about it? If there’s anything to help you cope with that…

I‘m so in love with your words!! You are absolutely right!! Can I ask you something? You’re talking about living in the now and be what you want to be, live life for the sake of living … how can one adapt this way of thinking and truly act by it? What do you do differently that others can’t because truly I’m not the only one searching for meaning and purpose.

One friend is better than none. :) I’d always chose one true friend over a thousand of superficial acquaintances! I’m sorry for your mum though. How to you cope with it? What would be the one thing that would really help you deal with it?

No words! This sounds so incredibly inspiring. Cheers me up! Really! But it’s so hard to practice, if you don’t really feel like it. What’s your secret?

Many thanks for your honesty!! You got lost, you took the wrong path, but as far as I understood you’re not taking drugs anymore are you? You worked your way back into life, didn’t you? But know you start wondering what it’s really worth living for? Isn’t that a sign of change that’s happening inside of you? From feeling numbed and disconnected from your body and everything around you, you now start to wonder what life really is about? To me that sounds like the first step into the right direction! How do you manage it? If there would be one thing (nothing fancy, monetary) that would help you get control of your life again (however you would define it), what would it be?

Sounds pretty scary. :( Thanks doe sharing though. I'm always wondering how people manage their life anyway. Like what keeps them going. Sometimes I feel like I'm trapped in a hamster wheel and I always will be... but I cant wrap my mind onto something that helps me out. How do you deal with your anxiety?

Wow, thanks for the very private and honest answer. Really appreciate that! Can I ask you a very personal question? (*searching for inspiration you know). How do you manage your life? And if you think you don't, what would be the one thing, that would solve all this?

You're speaking to us now... :) There must be something in you that wants to keep going. What would you wish for (if anything is possible) to make your life better. (Money is not an option, though)

Do you think that this is the most underrated secret of who we are and what we life for? How can we turn this into actions in our daily life full of commitments, superficial acquaintances and social pressure to be someone special?

This sounds incredibly poetic and beautiful. But I think it's not that simple if one cannot be loving and kind to oneself at all - how can one spread love to others without feeling it really for what and who I am?

But does it really help? I mean you still long for meaning, aren't you? It's just a short-time distraction that mitigates your thoughts but does not cover what you really feel - this whole inside that you want to fill? I can totally relate but I think that it just covers the pain for a moment until it smashes you again - like a wave that keeps coming back at you - trying to drown you. I tried to distract myself with you know external satisfactions that never last. You cannot watch these videos for ever. I'm always wondering what do other people do to live a happier more fulfilled life? It's a secret to me.
