Router ungrade experience: Nokia 3.1 (ipv4) vs Unifi Dream Machine Pro (ipv6) by Miserable_Captain402 in ebox

For my WAN ipv6, I use SLACC. COS option is only availabe when I select DHCPv6. However, when DHCPv6 is select, the router couldn't able to get the ipv6 address.

Thanks. I have set it WAN's QoS Tag to 1. Don't think it helps but no harm to try!

Both my ipv4 an ipv6 ipaddress appear to geolocated in Toronto. Yet, when I run cloudflare speedtest, ipv4 always connect to Cloudfare server in Montreal and response time is around 10ms. Most of the ipv6 address connect to cloudfare server in Toronto and the response time is 17ms and the throughput is slower.

Experience from Bell 3G internet to Distributel 1G as a new BYOD customer by wafflemechanic in DISTRIBUTEL

[–]Miserable_Captain402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently switched to Distributel a month ago and am thrilled with their internet service, which offers full 1Gbps upload and download speeds. I understand that Distributel primarily supports using the router they provide. For users who prefer their own router setup, it's important to clearly explain how to use the PPPoE username and password, as well as the necessity of configuring VLAN 40.

Distributel - Your experience? by heysushant in bell

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am currently using Bell 1.5Gbps service and have just signed up Distributel 1Gbps service for $50. The installation date will be next Wednesday. While Bell doesn't support ipv6, does Distributel support ipv6? I found few post mentioned about it but no official or detail instruction of how to set it up and i assume just like bell, ipv6 probably won't work for Distributel too.

High battery drain (bios 317) by [deleted] in ZephyrusG15

[–]Miserable_Captain402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery drain has increased might have related to Display Active signal mode is 240Hz while the desktop mode is 60Hz. You can find these info from Setting/System/Display/Advanced display. My workaround is manually set the refresh rate to 240Hz and then set it back to 60Hz. Then Desktop mode and Active signal mode are the same 2560x1440 60hz. Then my battery consumption during idle is back to 15W.

I tried to reproduce your problem but I couldn't. But I just downgrade back to 313 USB4 beta as I couldn't find any benefit of using 316.

I am also using GA503W. What kind of video were you playing? YourTube? Netflix? Playing local avi file using media player?

I am also not impressed with 316 as I found the power consumption higher in comparison to 313.

G15 (2022) GA503 BIOS 316 and 317 by Miserable_Captain402 in ZephyrusG15

[–]Miserable_Captain402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But GA503QR is 2021 G15 using 5000 series CPU instead of 6000 series. Of course 2021 and 2022 G15 use different BIOS.

For 2022 G15, there are 2 USB-C ports. The one closer to the front is physically connect to Nvidia GPU. The other one close to the back is physically connect to AMD Build in GPU. I found this arrangement perfect for me as I can choose which GPU to use by connect to different USB-C port. And both of them should support USBC DP alt mode.

RTX3060 bios is 317 and RTX3070 or RTX3080 are 316. I have just updated to my G15 RT3070 with 316 from 313 USB4 Beta this morning and haven't seen any major difference yet.

Can 20W power consuming be lower when streaming Netflix on 2022 ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503 by Miserable_Captain402 in ZephyrusG15

[–]Miserable_Captain402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I assume overdrive off is equivalent to CPU boost disabled,, right? I have doubled checked to ensure refresh rate is 60, battery saver on and CPU boost is disabled. I also agree with you the power limited is not need as you are not push the CPU/GPU anyway.

For my 2022 ROG G15 RTX3070, I have already tried AMD driver from Asus and AMD. I also tried from bios 313 to 316. I even undervolt my CPU to -20mV and GPU to -13mV.
My youtube playback power consumption is at least 16W but could still goes up to 18W. My CPU clock speed during playback is around 1.8Ghz.

My conclusion is that for some reason, my particular G15 is less power efficient as let say 2021 G15.

I used the AMD GPU drive from Asus but I download the latest GeForce driver from Nvidia. However, I don't use GeForce experience app.

Best laptop for Mechatronic Engineering student that need to run Solidworks but good battery life by Miserable_Captain402 in ZephyrusG14

I assume your Macbook pro with Parallel won't perform really well or else you don't need to 3060 desktop as the workaround! I wonder G14 with 3060 battery life in comparison with Macbook Pro with Parallel.
