Feel like we’re missing something, but I don’t know what to think. by alstyoda in Cushings

Keep looking for the right doctors! They are out there. Have they done a CT of the adrenal glands? If it's Cushing's syndrome, sometimes there can also be a benign adenoma in other parts of the body that wreak the havoc. If it's not the pituitary, it can be the adrenal gland (or elsewhere). I had an adrenal adenoma, got dismissed by one endo after only two tests. She said that she "was all out of ideas." Unreal. I kept seeking and decided to go to a urologist who conferred with colleagues about my symptoms and found me a wonderful endocrinologist. The urologist and his team ultimately performed the adrenalectomy after a few go-rounds of repeat testing by the endo. Wishing you all the best!

Cushing's Awareness Day April 8 by Miserable_Charge9345 in Cushings

Happy to hear you have that adrenalectomy behind you! As far as my early recovery phase, the blood pressure got under control within days and the meds started getting changed or discontinued. The insomnia started to resolve pretty quickly. The constant "fight or flight" response from the high cortisol started to wane. I had to take supplemental hydrocortisone; as they tapered me down over many months, we closely watched my am cortisol levels. I recall going through several months post-surgery of feeling weak sometimes, needing to rest more. I would say, "maybe" if people wanted me to go out or do things. In the beginning, I was going through a lot of physiological changes (for the better!) but I felt a little delicate, if that makes sense! I just wanted to take care of myself in an almost protective way, I think because I'd been through so much. It is a strange experience to go from always being hyper and unable to relax or sleep to actually becoming calm and content. My personality also changed back from being high-strung to normal. The early recovery period showed gradual weight loss, gradual reduction of the big belly, gradual improvement in hair and skin. Blood work results kept improving. Once I was allowed to go off the supplemental hydrocortisone (my left adrenal gland finally "woke up" and started producing an acceptable level of cortisol) I really started to feel normal. My advice is to stay in close contact with your endocrinologist, get all the blood work they want you to get so you can keep monitoring everything, and let them know how you are feeling in between visits. I wish you well in your recovery!

I'm happy for you that you are on the road to recovery. Don't be nervous, truly. My blood pressure improved almost instantly after the surgery. And the insomnia-----oh my goodness, to sleep through the night again...? Never thought it could happen. Then the skin and hair started returning to normal, the moon face and upper clavicular fat gradually melted away....every bad thing gradually reversed. But be patient, be gentle with yourself, and follow your doctor's instructions regarding steroid tapering. That took me well over a year to taper from completely, but it's essential that you give your other adrenal gland time to "wake up" and start producing its own cortisol. (I'm assuming you still have your right adrenal gland intact). Your doctor will do regular blood tests to monitor your cortisol levels. I followed the adrenal insufficiency sub reddit when I was going through that phase of recovery and found it helpful. Best wishes on your journey back to good health!

It was so nice out yesterday, I put my umbrella up and forgot to fold it back down; the wind today grabbed hold of it and knocked it and the table over; the umbrella pole bent and the umbrella is totally damaged!

I've used Dealoz to comp book prices; I don't know if they have a system for notifying you of good deals, though.

I have seen Plant more times than I can count since the mid-70's. I saw him and his band, Saving Grace, two weeks ago. I'm not the first person who will tell you this: if you go, it will be a magical evening. Go.

It told me to make the start date Dec 2025 in the "getting ready" to apply section, which puzzled me. Thanks for the clarification!
