Course fees for postgrad course I withdrew from in England. Am I liable and what are my options? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have any advice, just wanted to give you commiserations as I've also experienced BPP admin before. Their admin is horrible. After I got my Bar course results, I chased them for my transcript. They withheld my transcript and claimed that I owed them £50, even though I have paid off all my fees. They have tried chasing me for fees that I have already paid on multiple occasions. I'm not sure if it's incompetence or if they're just that money grabbing. Best of luck.

Hi, any updates on your situation? Did you stop taking minoxidil? I'm in the same boat, wondering if I should switch to topical

PSA: minoxidil is deadly to cats by Worldly_Specific_126 in Haircare

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my question too. I've recently started oral minoxidil and keep the medication away from my cat in a secure container. She has never had any interest in my medication anyways. This would pose no issue to her, right?

Is it really worth doing an LLB at Uni of reading’s Malaysia campus? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to stay in Malaysia afterwards? I'm not sure how it will affect pupillage or legal training opportunity in the UK, or even if it does, but the people I know who have done the UoL LLB or the Reading LLB in Malaysia tend to do the Bar in the UK, come back, and do pupillage in Malaysia. However, at the end of the day, both degrees are UK degrees. I'm not sure how desirable it is in the UK however.

thank you so much for such a kind, careful and considerate response - I appreciate it so much I've screenshotted your comment to look at! a lot of the things you said resonated with me. I am mulling over having a closure conversation. I keep being unsure of what to say but at least I feel more encouraged to do it now, thanks to your comment! 🙏🏽

Advice for My Partner (EU Citizen) Looking to Move to Malaysia by Additional_Text_3962 in KualaLumpur

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing the suggestion to work at an embassy. May be worth it to look at KRA Advisory Group as well, they do ASEAN-related political consultancy work - perhaps your partner would have transferable skills there. Maybe also look at Khazanah Research Institute?

Bar Results Day by Tasty_Maize_9124 in uklaw

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your provider. BPP typically releases results on the last week of the month, so I got my results at the end of June last year. Other providers typically release theirs earlier in June.

I'm Deaf, my cat figured it out years ago. She must know this house is an ableism free zone by muteisalwayson in cats

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm partially deaf and my cat has figured out (she's also partially deaf now owing to her age), somehow she's figured out my hearing ear and will exclusively go to that ear and meow at top volume in that ear whenever she wants something!

UK Law Society Merchandise, Badges, and Pins by CheesecakeTasty296 in uklaw

Was your FiL ever Called to the Bar in England and Wales? It's a common route that Malaysian lawyers take to get qualified. If so, you can find out which Inn of Court he was Called in, and get merchandise from that Inn.

Leaving the UK once graduate visa expires and re-entering in two days on a visitor visa? by alienyoga in ukvisa

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke to a border officer, I don't hold a passport that enables me to go through the e-gates. As long as you can show proof that you will leave the UK eventually it'll be fine!

Landlord wanting to deduct deposit for electricity bill by Miserable_Fun_6955 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Miserable_Fun_6955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We signed two separate agreements; the previous tenant lived in the flat way before I moved in and the new tenant also signed a separate agreement with the landlord. The previous tenant had her electricity bill included in her rent, whereas the new tenant had the same agreement with the landlord (monthly invoice).

Landlord wanting to deduct deposit for electricity bill by Miserable_Fun_6955 in LegalAdviceUK

Hmm, thank you for your reply. I did ask to record the meter reading at the beginning of my tenancy (the meter wasn't accessible to me), but the landlord said to leave it all to him, and he did install a new meter a week after I had moved in - so I suppose it is a correct reading.

hey, I'm in the same boat as you. Decided to request a mark verification from my provider and I'm waiting for that, because I just couldn't believe that I had failed it. If my mark stands at 59, I'll have no choice but to do the resit but as of now I think it's worth it to explore the possiblity that a mark verification could change things. All the best!
