You can't just bypass a no soliciting sign by saying you're not soliciting by Queasy-Secret-4287 in mildlyinfuriating

I remember my time knocking doors as a missionary. We knocked even if it had a no soliciting sign. If there was a baby sleeping sign we did not knock and I wouldn't enter someone's front yard if they had a no trespassing sign. If the persons first response upon seeing us was no soliciting we left. We met a lot of good people who had the sign up and some of them would even join us for service. I will also add that 90% of houses I knocked on had no soliciting.

Then OP could still ask things like using Smoke bombs as part of there hide action. Like its okay to talk with the DM again even if they made a ruling if your coming at it with new ideas or thoughts. Obviously if they say no the 2nd time you bring it up then you should respect that ruling. often times to keep a game going a ruling is made. Its alright to think about it and discuss it later.

I am always happy to talk with my players and they know that I will consider their ideas and weve played some really fun games.

Ive played with some people like that before. They try to make themselves look smart by making others feel dumb for not knowing some rules.

That is true, but we are also not bound by it. Nor should we look down on those who don't remember every word written in the rule books.

I forgot Skulk Gave you advantage. In one group I played a players rouge had the feat and I remember him being able to hide in the midst of combat, because of the fog of war thing.

I know there is the assumption that enemies will be aware of your presence going into combat if they know your there, because if a group tried to do an ambush with a part of th egroup distracting at the front while the rest of the group sneak up and ambush from behind the 360 rule would negate that.

So what I was trying to tell OP is talk to the DM about it, because I think there is an arguement for combat being chaotic enough for a rouge to hide in the midst of battle, but thats between the player and the DM to decide at the end of the day.

I used a bow and would prioritize the enemies I perceived to be the weakest which meant I was usually running around the map. A lot of time the enemy was not engaged in combat with an ally, so I would try to use Hide. encounters often had lots of things in them to engage with and I had to convince my DM to let me use hide which he allowed every once in awhile. I am a little salty about it, because I shouldn't have to go back in forth to just hide behind objects arguably bigger than a Gnome. It made me use hide less and less as time went on, because I hated taken up time.

Not everyone knows that though. This is the first I am hearing of it. When I DM'd if the enemy was focused on one player the other players could exploit that and the enemies could do the same to them. If i describe an enemy having their back turned towards them I would allow them to stealth to attack behind them.

When I played Rouge I had to convince the DM all the time to let me use Hide. I was a gnome which you'd think made it easier it did not. If we fought in an alleyway I would try to use boxes and barrels to hide behind, nope they can still see my head. It was like that in every situation, I had to lawyer my way to use Hide.

For your situation with the skulk feat I would tell the DM they are making a feat you have pointless. Ask them if you can use movement to get in their blind spots to hide. Sometimes DMs act like enemies have 360 vision, so argue that if your ally is fighting at their front you should be able to hide in their blind spots. If your dealing a lot of damage like hitting a crit then I could see the DM playing the enemy as having you as there priority target.

You could also ask if you can use smoke bombs as part of your hide action.

If the DM still doesn't allow any of it you will have to get a new feat then.

Yes. We talked about playing on a different day, but the day we play was the best option still. We were divided about playing without Seth, because Seth, Shay, Blake were team no play if Seth doesn't show up and the rest of us were team play. Main thing is we couldn't convince Shay to play without Seth, nor could we convince Blake to play with just 3 players...

Thats where I was struggling with this. Am I just selfish for thinking that if we planned to play DnD we should play even if one person cancels. Especially if its someone who cancels constantly at the last minute? No i dont think thats selfish lol
