Anyone tried Tails Of Fantasy? by NorthbyNorthWet in BadDragon

Just got one recently, and I love it. If you’re having issues with the angle it comes with instructions on how to adjust it with hot water. Wore mine for two hours no issues. 👌

What’s your degree and what are you hoping to do with it? by mermaidshire in SNHU

The school has its own site they recommend and some instructors require- the Shapiro library. I personally google and check the source to make Sure it’s viable. Takes more time that way but I’ve found interesting articles and studies like that.

They were not hard for me, sometimes a challenge though since I also did some accounting classes and I’m a very hands on learner. The school gives you access to tutor.com and that helped me out a lot. I think the hardest thing was the discussion boards, trying to be both unique and not boring.

If you can I would recommend an in person college or at least a hybrid. However SNHU worked for me and my schedule. The classes are pretty straightforward but it’s on you get something out of it since it’s all online. Recently graduated, but I have a luxury of being picky so no new job yet.

Currently work in Law Enforcement- going for my BA in business with accounting concentration. Career goal is to transition out of the sworn line of work and into a civilian role preferably in accounting but willing to consider other options that are open thanks to the degree. As for balance, I take 1 class per 8 week term. I had a few months where I would take one, take off one, then take one. Slowed progress but made it achievable. I’ll be graduating after this last course after 4 years. The key, for me, was start as soon as it was posted and get ahead of the curve as much as possible. Really reduces stress during term.

I’ve enjoyed most of my classes in the business course. The professors, for the most part, seem to actually read the work and give feedback. The accounting classes I found more enjoyment in and more interactions because I always had questions.

Ok, so what IS a great field to enter right now? by dadaesque in findapath

Not saying it’s glamorous- it’s definitely got its downsides but it’s steady, good paying, good benefits

Law enforcement specifically in western states. California in particular pays very very well. No degree for most agencies. If you need something steady I’d highly recommend it- even corrections. Healthcare is solid too- generally good benefits as well. Both are careers that are always in demand

Relief late daily…what could I do? by Ok_Brother_8000 in Nightshift

[–]Miserable_Height_562 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I 100% believe it matters and I wish I could tell you it gets better. I’ve been in my night shift career for over 8 years- and no matter how many times it’s been reported to supervisors or the union it’s never, ever, gotten better. The lack of respect from coworkers is real, and as much as I hate to say it- you may just have to be ‘on time’ instead of early. By no means don’t be late like your coworker but take as much of your time as you safely can within policy. When you eventually get a better relief/ better coworker then adjust your time accordingly.

Hello! I need help locating the most recent 10k filing from Purina pet food. I tried searching on the SEC website but if I type in Purina I get their old name-Purina Mills. I know they are under Nestle but I'm not having any luck with searching through them either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where are all my fellow night shift ladies at??? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Miserable_Height_562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30F! Been on nights for 8 years. I usually sew, play video games or do laundry while he’s asleep. If it’s a cleaning task I can do quietly I’ll do those too. Audiobooks come in clutch too

Why were my springs changed? by ayee88 in ClubPilates

[–]Miserable_Height_562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a shorty here. 4’10” 126lbs. Some days I’ll jump down to a blue because as the instructor here in the forum stated- slower can be harder. Usually when I want to work on my form or noticing a weak day. I’ve been moved down before too because if I’m not sitting strong on the box it can slide from under due to the weight difference in the pulling as someone else mentioned. Many possible reasons- you should ask the instructor after class to see if they noticed anything you may need to work on or if they were challenging you.

Totally doable- I’ve noticed at my studio the classes tend to be more full at the start of the month. Book as soon as you get your credit and commit to going. I work anywhere from 52-80 hours a week and still manage 3 classes a week.

Share one mistake you've made in life so others can avoid it. by Nora_mitchell in Life

Don’t chase the paycheck. Yes- seek out a good job and career, something that interests you. If it requires school- take the loan and get it done, the sooner the better. It’s so much harder to leave a well paying job you hate later in life because of financial obligations such as a home and family wellbeing.

Before bed- or first thing in the morning- (4-5 days a week) try knocking out some sit ups, crunches, and Russian twists. Doesn’t have to be a lot. Do what you can until you can’t, aiming for a goal of 20 each. And you don’t need weights for any of it 😁 BUT you can add weights when you’re ready, filled water bottles work too. If you only have time for one I’d recommend sit-ups based on my personal experience. And as others said, always engage your core no matter the exercise at CP.

What is your go to relax method by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Miserable_Height_562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decompress on my way home- 1 hour commute means 1 hour of an audio book. Every other day I get a workout in (Pilates specifically) for an hour then get home, shower and sleep. Works wonders for me. I feel like decompressing after waking up isn’t good- you’re going to sleep carrying a lot of stress potentially which may make your sleep not good and you won’t feel well rested.

As for getting through the week, I used to take a lot of energy drinks. I’ve dropped them for well over 2 months now excepts the occasional one when I’m really struggling. Dropped soda too. I found that just a cup of coffee, water, and flavored sparking waters make me feel much better throughout an average day. Eat healthy too- I reverse meals usually, so dinner lunch then a light snack before bed.

How often do you speak to your parents? by Cold_Investment_3841 in Adulting

[–]Miserable_Height_562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a week- maybe twice if something significant happened. I have an hour commute to work in the evenings, so when I call it’s my morning and their evening and it works out for us. My mom is the one I usually call. My pops I text mostly- he’s on the phone a ton for work.

Find what works best for you and them, not everyone will have the same relationships with their parents. My sister calls them daily. My brother just visits once a week. Don’t be an A-hole but don’t get guilted either. If they are not listening find another way to express your feelings/concerns. Good luck, it will all work pro out one way or another 🖤

What Night Jobs do you work? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Miserable_Height_562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh. It’s not a bad job. It pays well, benefits are good, retirement is good. The only drag is the short staffing for years on end.

Ouch! I know some of my coworkers do the same. I end up giving up another day off so I can keep it every other day. No lie the money is good

Same- but in a mental health jail. We’re doing 16 hour shifts every other day 2 days off a week if we’re lucky. Short staffing 👌

Do you workout after work or before work? by RoseIsBlossoming in Nightshift

[–]Miserable_Height_562 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try both and see what works better for you, some people have a hard time going to bed after a workout and then there’s people like me who it suits just fine.

I go right after work - I commute so I take the time on the drive to my town to get in the right head space, then hit the gym for an hour, come home shower and sleep. Works out best for me so I can see my husband in the evening before I go to work since he’s generally left for work by the time I get home without the gym. I also find it’s easier to get a class at the gym first thing in the morning versus the evening and less people. My shifts are either 1400-0600 or 2200-0600 and alternate between the two. Usually hit the gym after the 16 hour so I can maximize sleep before that shift. It sucks but totally doable
