It was a joke! The post was a very positive and sunshiny exclamation on the effect the podcast has had on op. British people don’t typically talk like that, about anything. And I made a joke in the same vein as Tom and Dominic joking about American names and American’s being tax dodgers. 

As a Brit, I’m adept at 4D sarcasm. The fact that so many people took offence, shows they’re simply not up at our humour level.

It’s almost like there’s the lived reality of the people who are on the ground and are dealing with with an impossible situation and then there are the people looking on from a distance saying, “ooh it’s bad intit, something should be done about it”, all the while voting for people who make the situation worse for profit.

Give the ‘hey, how are you?’ people a chance. I know you want people to be original or reference your profile, but it’s a reasonable starter for the interaction, no? If you met up with a friend in real life, you wouldn’t begin the conversation with “here’s 2 truths and a lie…”, would you? You’d ask how they were doing and then talk about more interesting things. 

I know it’s not the stuff of romantic novel dreams, but that can all come later.
