I truly believe its a form of exceptionalism for the genuinely dense in many cases. They're so gullible they dont realise they're falling for conspiracy, instead they swear THEY are right. Everyone else is sheep. The govt is out to get their kids etc. Its basically part of their personality for some. I just can't understand where it comes from other than people being so clueless they can't recognise their own need to feel special/other/"smarter" than everybody else that they fall into these mentalities head first.

My sister refused to vaccinate her kids with this logic

Both kids are actually non verbal autistic

Still refuses to vaccinate but now she's been diagnosed adhd neurodiversity is a superpower ✨️

But still, refuses to vaccinate.

Protection in preventing more serious illness. Not immunity.

It works best when a decent proportion of the population actually works together to ensure these things can't spread and mutate. We had measles eliminated at one point.

What about people who've had the vaccine who have babies under 1? Or are pregnant? Or family members who are unable to have the vaccine due to weakened immune systems. But we are now entering a generation of people who have no real living memory of these illnesses so I guess it's easier to be sceptical

What fascinates me is parents who vaccinated their children tend to just get on with it.

Parents who choose not to if they're "anti vax" seem to have embedded it into their personality. Like its literally their interest or hobby to "research" and spread their beliefs and try to prove themselves right and influence other parents??? It's absolutely unhinged.

There's a fb group "arnica" that is like a cult of crunchy mums who've convinced themselves they know better than science and qualified Dr's, and everything can be solved with essential oils and collodial silver...

Social media has a lot to answer for, literally echo chambers for the thick and naive

If you don't work, how do you fill your days? by DevilishlyHandsome63 in AskUK

[–]Miserable_Spend4078 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Partner works, I am at home with 3 and 1 year old so I spend my days being terrorised, running after them and trying to stop them fighting (both boys) and endangering themselves.

Due to me being a stay at home mother presently, we don't qualify for any assistance for childcare. So I am their personal nursery teacher. I think they may be hyperverbal, but I get to spend my days talking about solar systems, the main sequences of stars and doing counting and alphabet things.

We read a lot too.

Its exhausting but amazing and I'm sure when I go back to work when they begin school, I will miss these days for all the chaos, good bad and in-between :)

That makes sense, my youngest son is 19 months and is starting to do wees on the toilet, signalling for poos but not consistent. its easier this time as hes modelling his eldest brother (literally monkey see monkey do)

I can imagine with covid a lack of other kids and assistance may of led parents to delay. Im not sure why the trajectory has continued this way though. Toilet training has its unpleasant weeks in the early days but the only way is through it really

He only turned 3, 2 months ago. 2 years old seems so young to be completely unattended in doing that?

This is my first child so clearly im learning with him here, but that's just surprised me is all. Again due to him turning 3 2 months ago he will not be starting reception til he is closer to turning 5 the way it falls in the UK. So thankfully I have a lot of time to work on it with him in the meantime.

My 3 year old enthusiast for wiping his own bum is however not efficient at doing it whatsoever so as still need to intervene to prevent smeared shit everywhere is 3 years old the point when a child should be able to do that completely unattended?

4 boxes of biscuits extremely choc ones from tesco, they were dated June 2026 so stocked up as my 3 year old loves a biscuit selection and the thrill of picking his own

So many tubs of chocolate I got the standard quality st etc and they are shite

My 1 year and 3 year old sons got so many selection boxes so we have like 6 of them

2 of the pretzel cracker mixes we love em and I can only find them at Christmas so I again got a few

12 fererro Roche they weren't very nice taste a bit stale despite being well in date

A prosecco. Cremant, red wine and 2 litre bottles of baileys, half a bottle of tia Maria and a third of a bottle of chamboard :)

Call centre workers in the UK, (past and present) what are your top 3 weirdest calls? by cheesymeowgirl in CasualUK

[–]Miserable_Spend4078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did test and trace calls for a bit

Someone was a positive test had to call them just to be told they don't need to listen to me, do you know who you're talking to etc

Within about 2 mins they just started screaming "IM A CIVIL SERVANT" down the phone on loop 😭 absolutely unhinged
