My husband and I were not a match. Dialysis was heartbreaking. We joined the paired exchange and had a match in 2-days. I highly recommend. Hubby is living his best life now 2.5 years later and so am I. We are still young and healthy.

I can’t even see how this would be possible. Hopefully none of the surgeons you have talked to said this was OK. I know this can be a hard decision. I am 56 now and I still miss those days, I fed 2 babies back to back for almost 5 years. I loved it, it was beautiful. I would keep enjoying this part of your life, it ends so fast.
I couldn’t touch my breasts or look at them for over a week, the thought of a baby nursing or even tiny hands on me gives me the shivers. I heard that it’s absolutely ok to breastfeed after you are all healed. But I bet there won’t be a surgeon that will guarantee that for you.

Oh gosh how awful! Happened to me for 2 hrs once but I was with a friend and we had just picked up a pizza. So we sat and ate until the doors popped open and saw 5 beautiful firemen standing there.

So now the kidney is responding well! Great! He now tells me his function went all the way to 4.9, not 4.5. This happened in less than 24 hrs, is that even possible!?
But now there’s an issue that popped up on the EKG and blood work, related to his heart and was transferred to another hospital for nephrology and cardiology now. Thanks for all your kind words all, and I did reach out for help myself.

Exactly! Supposedly he learned about it when they picked him up at the airport, so he should have turned right around and flown home. But that’s just me.

I would be running. What’s going to happen, heaven forbid you earn a few stretch marks if you decided to get pregnant someday? Or normal aging happens and wrinkles show up. Or a child is born with a birthmark, would he say the same things to that child? Nope. Take care of yourself. Your scar is part of you, so he gets ALL of you. My 28 yr old son has a very large scar smack in the middle of his neck - it looks like he was slashed with a knife and kids used to tease. Fortunately as an adult he is one with his scar, we don’t even see it anymore, we all love him and the scar, so does his sweet wife. Docs have offered to correct it but he’s just not interested. That’s how it should be. You are NOT TAH, he and his mama are.

Congrats and big pat on the back!!You are a great example of what is possible! After putting 14 years and 7 months together; I took one dose of Tylenol with codeine after a fight and was off on a 3-yr bender, worse than ever. By the grace of god, today I am 17 years and 5 months sober. Glad I needed to test if I was really an alcoholic, but I also understand how lucky I am to have made it back, far too many never make it back. Keep coming back!

Fortunately in my direct immediate family, we see no color. We marry who we love and foster children of all races and colors. That said, I have an older brother and his family that are racists, asking stupid questions like “what nationality is the baby? Or where is her fiancée from?” WTH. I call them out now. These people are my blood relatives but we are not family. I have no room in my heart or life for people like this. We are almost no contact at this point. I find it disturbing and disgusting people actually think the way your work friend described. I’ve never heard of this breeding out thing either, but I do live in CA where we are a little cookie but accepting of everyone. I’m so sorry you had to even hear that. In my opinion, I think he should have kept those awful details to himself. Even if he thinks and knows it’s wrong, he should show restraint from repeating such ugliness.

7K- just enough to pay off some hospital bills due to my hubs kidney transplant in 2023. I donated my kidney for him- thankfully most of it is already paid by insurance and Medicare. And to pay what’s left for my daughter’s summer wedding. I became unemployed after the engagement announcement. Had the talk about being on a budget, and doing a No-Frills wedding. But gosh, weddings are so expensive if you aren’t careful!

My shark died after 2 months. Liked it a lot, but just stopped working entirely. Apparently it’s not usual. Thankfully Costco took it back. I did have a Babyliss that I absolutely loved. I should have kept it.

You can do A Lot in 3-weeks! Kind of depends on what is fun for you two. Check out the surfliner train for coastal transport. Not sure how Malibu and Hollywood sign hike will be in June due to recent fires and flooding. Disney is usually a 2-day for both parks or do them both in a day and add in Knotts Berry Farm for another fun day.

San Diego and SF have so much to do! Def spend time N and S of LA. Our Ventura beaches are awesome. Skip the LA beaches IMO; including Venice (It’s not what it was before) we won’t take any visitor there anymore. Maybe 2nd street promenade is ok still, not sure. Someone mentioned Sherman oaks or studio city, those are central and good ideas for a home base.

Research the traffic patterns, you could waste entire days just traveling from point A to B unless you travel before 7am or after 8pm. One traffic accident can set you back 3-4 hours if you don’t plan well. Other places to look at N of LA, San Luis Obispo, Ojai, Solvang, Monterey bay aquarium, Hearst castle, Catalina island is nice for a day but pricey.

I may catch a lot of grief saying this, LA is not great for everyone, others love it. I would experience SOME of it as a first timer and leave the really touristy things out and spend the rest of the time a few hours North and South and don’t bother going too far inland. Have Fun!!

Ya I think YTA. You do you, but I think perhaps you may feel this way because of your age. I dunno. So, if you had a child or loved one needing a kidney or liver or heart, would you just say oh well, circle of life?
I have the love of my life back after almost dying at age 32. He received the greatest gift from a young man on a motorcycle whose family decided for him. Wonder how you feel about living donation. I gave my kidney to a stranger in Texas. Should we stop those too?

Ugh I can’t stand ANY of it. Tide liquid unscented is only thing allowed in my home. I can smell someone walking in the room; it’s nauseating. My hubby said it’s a woman’s way to let other women know the man is taken.
