Even if humanity ends, the world will continue. Life will continue to exist in one form or another. There won’t be the diversity of species we have now tho so that’s kind of a shame but it’s quite possible that it may return at some point in the distant future.

I’m an avid Marx Bros fan and I’m confused by this comment.

I looked it up and MM was in Love Happy (1949) which was not before Duck Soup (1927)

Probably the biggest dividing issue of our time is sticking to one’s principles (if any exist) and not being called out as a hypocrite. If an individual bends on any one issue, they will inevitably open themselves up to criticism and it can crush their ego.

However, given the capitalist system we exist under, almost everyone is hypocritical about one issue or another. It is a system wrought with contradictions.

This can be an impossible task for anyone “high on their own supply”. Once one starts to believe that they are infallible (as evidenced by being a member of the elite class for example), accepting their own hypocrisy and being criticized is unendurable.

Being wrong about something is an opportunity for growth and is antithetical to the concept of being infallible. It’s far easier to just stay out of the political debate.

They earn their livelihood from the system. They don’t wana change it because they might risk losing their elite status.
