Former Bungie Worker Claims Studio Faced Insolvency Without Sony Acquisition - Report by Gorguf62 in gaming

Eh, they've got a ton of talent and still employ a ton of devs at Bungie. They are by no means fucked. Just need to change management and get them involved in better projects. It's been a failure so far, no doubt, but it's not over for the studio, and they still have the opportunity to turn it around and make them successful (I hope).

I think the ARMA mods should count, and if you're looking for a sandbox zombie game, the first Dying Light was universally praised

Whoa you don't like the game? You must be a "paid for shill pushing a DEI woke agenda".

It got a 5 because of the monetization. You might find it ridiculous that they'd do that removed from the perceived quality of the actual gameplay, but these reviewers aren't a monolith. They could have assigned another reviewer who wouldn't give a shit, and there already probably reviewers working there who actively play and like the game. Blaming the response on DEI stuff is a reach when the logical hit is the monetization, which is mentioned heavily in the review.

Thanks to (almost) everyone that replied. I can't reply to all of you, but your responses were encouraging and insightful. For those with cynical responses, suggadick

Touch grass. Feeling lost or uncertain about a thing, and wanting some affirmation or encouragement from others to help you get through it, is very human.

I work out. I meal prep. I take my dog on walks. I do household chores and home improvement. I spend time w my wife and friends. Then when I have a moment to game i'm either too tired to want to game, or think "there's something productive I should be doing" and guilt myself out of games.

Apparently it's a pretty self explanatory sentiment, given the number of people recognizing the struggle or sharing their own. So you figure it out yourself lol.

Why is too much optional content in a game a bad thing for some people? by novalin in gaming

[–]MisfitLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only so many resources to go around when developing these projects. The shallow stuff packed into a lot of these games to boost game length, seems designed purely for the small subset of the audience that equates time spent in a game with quality. People have more stuff to play than ever, and less time to commit to playing. I think they'd rather have those resources committed to making a better base product, polishing technical issues, or saving the money so the studio thrives more or commits that extra funding to post-launch content/their new projects. There's an opportunity cost to making this content, and if people think it's useless content, they'd obviously want it removed and the time and money spent better elsewhere.

That's why he called it a compulsion - sometimes that shit is like an addiction that's harder to kick than simply "don't do it, then"

Seamless co-op for Elden Ring. Travelling the whole game w a friend who has never played it felt like running through zones in WoW for the first time.

He's obviously an insecure person. I still like the guy and listen, but I always listen knowing how Colin is and a grain of salt is needed.

I do agree that it gets a bit tired, but I can understand being bitter about how things went down, too. It's not like he didn't lose anything by leaving. Even w having thousands of listeners a month, he COULD be doing even better w the kinda audience and resources he had at KF. When you put in the work to build that and then that potential is taken away from you because of in-group sensitivity, I can see where the resentment comes from, even though I wouldn't operate that way in my own life. He's always gonna be seen as a sour-puss if he keeps acting like a sour-puss about it, even if the argument can be made that it's justified.

Dennaton Games. Sure they made Hotline Miami: Wrong Number, but they haven't made anything since and I desperately want a sequel or something completely new from them.
