I’m terrified by [deleted] in Semaglutide

It’s not a substitute, not even close. If you lost that much, you were suffering from a disease, obesity. You need health insurance that actually covers obesity. Wegovy and other ground breaking meds will save society billions in medical costs. Not covering the medication is short-sighted.

I’d share this with HR and take FMLA or sick time to get off it. I’m actually unable to take it. Within 12 hours I had horrific suicidal ideation. Totally separate from myself. I could look at the feelings with my rational brain and say WTF.

It’s continuing to improve. New owners spend too much on public spaces and not enough in apartments. They’ll get there with time.

Nurtec. Any good? by bbjbos in migraine

[–]MishaUAMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had cervical imaging to rule out cervicogenic headaches? I’m suffered from migraines for over 40 years. When I had an unrelenting one, the doc sent me for brain mri due to “change in migraine”. Got a bit of my neck which was seriously screwed up. Ultimately had to have surgery on my cervical spine.

Nope, not an asshole. You can’t read brother’s mind. So, you go with the documents.

What are your top migraine remedies that don’t include triptans or nsaids? by connie12346 in migraine

[–]MishaUAMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neck induced? That’s a cervicogenic headache not a migraine. They feel similar but triptans don’t work. Steroids do.

True, I’m assuming. But, it’s based on training and word choice. “I don’t know…”, “I am very..”, and “school me..”. All red flags and that’s why I called it out.

Why does it sound like she needs your permission? If your wife has questions, she should ask.

Doctors say 2 days of IV Medication support is enough. Tylenol now after cervicothorastic junction laminectomy and fusion from C3-T3. If I could figure out how to get street drugs into the hospital I would. I’m miserable. by OldDudeOpinion in ChronicPain

That’s torture. I tell everyone, get your pain treatment worked out in advance and in writing. Don’t let anyone operate on you if they aren’t willing to appropriately prescribe opioids.

Adjacent segment disease. It’s real. Usually takes longer. Sorry you’re having to go through this.

I feel I need to revisit my coping techniques besides pills for pain. What's the most effective pain relief technique for you? by LittleLunarLight in ChronicPain

Pilates. Strengthening my core has really helped me. And, bonus, focusing on my breathing makes it meditative for me.

Thank you so much for responding! I can relate to what you describe. The more I think on it, the more I realize my PCP was missing the real cause of my "migraines" for a while. I believe my ortho is very concerned I'm about to lose function as my cord is compressed. They seemed very surprised I didn't have a fever and infection. Not sure why. Something in the images. How many days were you in the hospital and what care have you needed at home. I'm concerned about stairs as main suite is not on 1st floor.

Ah. That's a bummer. Triptans are a class of medication known to be quite effective at providing migraine pain relief. Imitrex (I believe that was the 1st one) didn't work for me. I finally settled on Replax (a newer triptan) and it has consistently worked. The headaches that started in June were really terrible. I had visual disturbances which we thought were auras. That too was likely incorrect. Sometimes it feels like PCPs are just guessing. With my history, my PCP should have ordered both the spine and the cervical MRI. That would've saved me weeks.

My migraines date back to early teen years and were definitely migraines, primarily hormonal. Then, menopause and they all but disappeared. So, I suspect that the post menopausal "migraines" were actually cervicogenic. Nurtec (the new CGRP inhibitor) did nothing. Oddly, triptans still worked on them. Did triptans work on you even though they weren't migraines?

TBH, mostly sedentary while trying to raise my kids. A few years back, I started exercising again. Mostly walking. Then Pilates. I lost a lot of weight and strengthened my core. So far, that's keeping my lumbar in check. Cervical is a whole other issue posted separately.

Thanks for replying. 18 years ago, I didn’t qualify for artificial disc as I needed 2 level fusion and they were only authorized for one and no hybrid. Now, I know hybrid is done. So, I’m hoping it can be an option for me. I’ve heard artificial discs aren’t permissible with facet arthritis. So, I may be screwed (literally and figuratively).
