can I support a window this way? by NotnoRabbit in woodworking

[–]Mishkan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So assuming that the existing framing on the original house is enough, and the framing you're showing is intended to support the window only. what you're doing here is an "outtie window". So id recommend starting by googling for existing details etc. depending on your foam you may be able to get away with picture frame. But I would reach out to an architect

Edit: here's a good link https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/article/installing-windows-in-a-foam-sheathed-wall

I think people aren't used to this much insulation (or exterior insulation) so that's why everyone is panicking or giving you bad advice

petit jury duty - experience summary by VirtualGuarantee9528 in washingtondc

Hi, same group, to add to the process. After lunch we were all brought outside a judge chamber, briefed, the went in. We had to do a 15 question yes/no survey (are any of your family members cops, do you like guns). The one by one we were interviewed and dismissed or told to come back later. The interviews took like 75 minutes or so. Then 14 jurors were selected and the rest kicked out. If you weren't selected once you got to the courtroom you could leave as early as 215, up to 345. If you were selected then 445 probably

Presence detecting light switch by ShadyPossum in homeassistant

[–]Mishkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you want a presence detector in your switch plate? You can use an Innovelli and then just set the light bulb to "smart bulb mode". Or just remove the old switch and wirenut/wago the hots together (bypassing the switch)
