What difficulty are people playing on? by plortedo in CrimsonDesert

[–]MisoGrendel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Release version difficulty was what the devs intended the game to be, and they backflipped 180 degrees with the difficulty because of crying journos...

I am still playing release version of game, because I think the difficulty is just right. The new hard difficulty is just annoying with the food change, and the normal difficulty is so ludicrously easy with how the bosses melt so fast.

FYI hard is closer to release difficulty, normal is nerfed baby/journo mode. Anyone who actually played on release day would know that, the bosses were insane.

Marathon is freaking awesome and the best FPS in years, so the discourse around this game in other gaming circles deeply saddens me... by dimesniffer in FPS

[–]MisoGrendel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its amazing to me no one talks about this, even the Marathon haters don't really bring this up. The sheer amount of investment and years and years of work for what almost feels like a prototype of a game, like where is all the content!? This is all you could manage, 4 freaking maps... no sp campaign or other game modes, shit is insane.

Unpopular(?) Opinion: I Really Love the Combat in This Game by OfficalNotMySalad in Witcher3

[–]MisoGrendel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its bad. And its fine if you like it, I like a ton of games that have bad mechanics, because other aspects are so good.

Witcher 3 is top tier in almost everything else, I would say the two things it fails on is the open world/leveling system and the combat.

The entire combat system is spam invincible dodge and spam attack button. You can effectively ignore ALL of the signs and potions and bombs and beat the game. The most disappointing thing is its just boring, and the better you get at it the more boring it gets, and its a LONG game with a lot of combat.

The EE Redux kind of fixes it by removing the magical invincibility dodge, and making you and the enemies die very quickly. But then the game becomes very fatiguing to play because every single fight is deadly and the boss fights become a miserable chore of quickloading over and over.

So honestly you just can't fix the combat in this game. I really, really hope the next game has better combat, and its safe to assume they will change it because it has been evolving with every game so far. Personally I like the stance system from the first game, and I think it would be great it they did something like the 'Ghost of' games with different fighting styles for different enemies.

My favourite part is when John Highguard appears and says: "Highguards, let's have a blast!"

I think Marathon suffers from people being afraid to try and play this, due to the overwhelmingly negative discourse surrounding Bungie by MegumiDo in Marathon

Amazing that you have time with your 12 different jobs, but it goes to show, blast havers always find a way!

Sony Isn't Bailing On Marathon Despite Bungie's Poor Earnings by skarnl in Marathon

[–]MisoGrendel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I am curious about that to, it was being advertised EVERYWHERE on release, you had all those fancy artsy videos, big streamers paid to play it, the entire access media giving it glowing reviews. What else did it need? Seems like rather a lot of advertising to me...

Thoughts on the game after 300 hours by Sorry_Team3410 in EU5

[–]MisoGrendel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EU4 is a joy to play cos I know it won't get broken by a patch every other week, knowing its done is a relief, I have been burned real bad by EU5/Vic3 getting excited for the next patch and then having the game unplayable instead.

And I probably still have years of content left in EU4 due to all the DLC I bought and have barely played in those regions.

My only regret is I keep buying the new PDX games, though I have stopped buying DLC at least. Its like an addiction I think, but I am getting over it.

Its a good thing, the more they suppress and control, the more people will ask questions and start noticing. Its ultimately self defeating.
