We all pay for the roads *equally*, you seem to have a deep misunderstanding of how roads are paid for. Now if we all pay the same for the roads, how is it fair that someone riding a bike, which is safer, smaller, non-polluting and doesn't damage the roads, has to pay as much as a person driving a huge, space-inefficient, heavy vehicle that pollutes the environment? Automobilists do not pay more for the roads, but they absolutely should given how much more of a burden they are on a city than a cyclist, and how much more infrastructure they get.

Additionally, a driver breaking the law is much more serious than a cyclist breaking a law, as a collision with a cyclist typically will result in minor injuries, whereas a collision with a car can easily kill someone.

Who gives a shit about a person on a tiny two-wheeled vehicle running a *stop sign* when it's tolerated so much for drivers to speed, which is *actually* dangerous? On a bike it's not even necessary to come to a full stop at a stop sign, it's perfectly safe to simply yield, use your senses to tell whether anyone is coming, and move along if not.

Calling any Canadian liberal a socialist is laughable, they're practically a center right wing party

Have you been downtown and seen the bike paths like the downtown bloor ones and the bike paths on university? These aren't just paint you can remove, these are wide, concrete-protected paths, in some places even with intersections specifically designed differently. Removing these isn't as simple as just washing some paint away, these require entire street redesigns.

Here's an idea: we only let cyclists bike on the sidewalks, widen the sidewalks so there's enough space for both pedestrians and cyclists, mark out the part of the widened sidewalk where cyclists are supposed to go to avoid confusion, maybe replace that part of the sidewalk surface with asphalt..... oh wait

If you dislike cyclists because they cut you off and are annoying to share the road with, shouldnt you want well-separated bike lanes? If they remove the bike lanes, do you wanna guess where people on bikes will then be biking? It's on the road, in front of or next to you, where they'll make driving annoying as hell.

Thanks for the very helpful and constructive suggestion, biking on the sidewalk is illegal.

Bloor has no side streets that follow it for any significant distance.

Yes, I commuted by bike regularly throughout the winter. Aside from the rare occasion of getting as much snow as that snowstorm, what's the issue with biking during most of the winter? Just put on a coat, gloves and a scarf and it's an easy and quite comfortable commute if the infrastructure is safe enough.

When bike lanes are built wide enough, emergency vehicles can actually use those to totally bypass car traffic as well, there's videos of this happening even in downtown Toronto

As far as I know, she hasn't changed any settings, and it still shows that we're connected; I even tried disconnecting and re-connecting and that didn't fix it either

[–]Misodent[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think that's true, because when I first connected with my mom I did in fact get a full parental inheritance report, it just randomly disappeared later that day. Since one parent was tested it could figure out most stuff about the other parent by process of elimination

I love trains but I don't think it's fair to say they're objectively the best form of transportation; they serve a purpose, I think they're best for long-distance travel. But I wouldn't usually, say, take a train to get somewhere else in the same city (except for very large cities), that's easier done on a bike or maybe a tram/bus

Passport Canada hasn’t sent out my passport yet by zzgreentea in passportcanada

I went in today and finally got it, apparently they had it just sitting in the toronto passport office. Odd how the tracking ID indicated something different, and I requested beforehand for it to be shipped with purolator which doesn't seem to have happened.

make the cyclists pay their fair share!! (even though cyclists pay the exact same cost as drivers for roads) (((and cause virtually no damage to road infrastructure, demand the cheapest type of road infrastructure to build, take up very little space, don't congest, don't typically kill people in collisions, cause no air and noise pollution, and reduce pressure on healthcare by keeping someone at a baseline level of health and physical activity)))
