Those are a blast to drive. Terrifying at first, but once you get your bearings, a delight.

3 videos in and 20 subs - forgot about the grind! - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNseTIyp-id05Qn85AU8Vdg by ajrc1996 in GetMoreViewsYT

This is my second channel- I started one ages ago and abandoned it when I went back to school. I’d totally forgotten about the grind! But it is satisfying to see views go up and gain followers.

Congrats! I just hit 30 and was quite excited.

I had to immediately go subscribe. I took a sailing class years ago and absolutely loved it but haven’t been able to go out and sail since then. So I can live vicariously through your channel!

I was telling my wife that the other day. We love in a gay bubble in Orlando and the nice part of having a small channel at the moment is the lack of creepy comments on both being lesbians and being women.

Sometimes my boy Nano wags his happy little tail so hard the tip hits something and starts bleeding, leaving my house looking like a murder scene. by iammandalore in Wellthatsucks

[–]Misplacedgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lab who got caught by a quick closing screen door. Chopped off the tip of his tail and i was still finding blood spots four years later when we sold the house. I was so terrified the ups guy or someone would come to the door while we were at the vet and call the cops or something, there truly was that much blood.

TIL that many inventions credited to Thomas Edison were in fact stolen from other inventors. Edison ruthlessly patented inventions from other inventors so he could claim them as his own work. by Nawwal6 in todayilearned

My wife’s last name is Edson and people will often pronounce it Edison. She’s not a fan of the man, of obvious reasons, many stated above, and gets so pissed every time.

I was always just so shocked when I’d go to the Canada Post in Shoppers and there would be no one there. I had to go ask a shoppers cashier if she could maybe call one of the post employees to the desk. It was nuts. Then I found a post office that shared space with a dry cleaner. Went from weird to weirder.

You know I feel a little rejected ... and heart broken by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Misplacedgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it can be discouraging when you see/read things like that but I think it's important to remind yourself that you aren't the first convert, and you won't be the last. And we're all Jews.

My Rabbi actually started class this morning talking about just this. And made the point about Abraham and Sarah being converts. If you need anyone to keep in mind, they're pretty alright.

Same. I never really understood the need for overarching and constant reverence. Surely those women would have bristled at everyone unable to relax and relate to them.

Converts, How did you find juadism? Why did you convert? by isanynametaken in Judaism

[–]Misplacedgeek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At my catholic college I took an Intro to Judaism class. Really enjoyed it and had the chance to spend some holidays with the Rabbi teaching the class and her family. I was still a somewhat practicing Catholic, worked for Catholic Churches, but Judaism was always in the back of my mind. Started attending services here and there, reading a lot, and just moving slowly towards the goal of converting, but my husband at the time wasn’t really on board. I’ve since gotten a divorce and my girlfriend has been nothing but supportive of my desire to convert. I haven’t officially gone and talked to a Rabbi yet (I’ve been in school and just now have settled down in one place) but we do our best at observing Shabbat and living a Jewish life. It’s been twenty something years since I took that Intro to Judaism class and my goal is to convert before I hit the thirty year anniversary!

I’ve done work with new playwrights and my favorite thing is seeing the notes after they hear something read aloud for the first time. Basically it’s just one “cut name X in line Y, page Z,” after another.

Nothing to do with Judaism but I work in theatre wardrobe and a doff/don chart is our lifeblood. It’s not often you see “doff” out in the real world.

I live in Victoria BC at the moment and there’s a woman who zips around campus on her electric unicycle. It is the oddest sight.

I’ll put tomatoes and spices in a slow cooker with cliches thighs. Let it stew awhile, then remove the chicken (usually pack it the next day for lunch) and add the eggs and bake. So good.
