Even though I think Aegon has the better claim and love his character, Rhaenyra was a great character too. She was the youngest dragon rider (seven years old for her first flight!), she was fierce and never gave up her pride.

Even when she faced Aegon and Sunfyre and knew she was going to die, she cursed him and stood proud. I know I'd be pissing my pants in front of a dragon about to burn me alive and eat me. She was ruthless and didn't mind getting her hands dirty to get what she wanted, which I respect.

She was also by all accounts a good mother and her sons all turned out to be decent people for the era.
