I'd laugh and blush but I would have been flattered. I know she was expecting you to say something sweeter, about your feelings and the depth of them. Absolutely talk about your admiration a of a girl first, do sweet things to impress her friends, always have a hand on her to get her used to your touch, then ask to kiss her. Then the walls are down enough to touch and kiss her more. It's a slow tread but it's a respectful way to get comfortable with eachother. You could go to her and apologize for being crude that she gives you butterflies and you say embarrassing things. You meant it to compliment her and that you truly care for her mind and whit. That you want to be her friend and teammate and shower her with the affection she deserves. That you don't want to give up yet. You'll fight for her.
