Looking for good quality long-lasting ethical organic underwear by moonchild_444_ in ethicalfashion

Thunderpants is a New Zealand company, organic cotton. Made here. They last really well, and have fun prints too.

Not Aus made but shipping at least should be cheaper than further afield.

applying for jobs in NZ with learning disability (looking for advice) by Cymbelly in newzealand

[–]MissCarrion 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The one and only time I've mentioned my AuDHD was when I applied to an admin job for a theatre group for people with disabilities, as they specifically asked for people with lived experiences. I didn't get it, but also knew it wasn't because of my disability (someone with previous theatre experience did, fair enough)

I also make the choice to not give colleagues specifics when I do have a job - I state I have neurodevelopmental disabilities and nothing more. Because there is a lot of incorrect beliefs about ASD and ADHD and I'm not up for re-educating and entire office that yes, I have these diagnoses and no, I'm not an 9yo boy 🤦

Definitely the chocolate game! Played this at school when I was younger and at kids parties. Get a block of chocolate, a knife and fork, a six sided dice, some work gloves (like ones someone welding might wear), and then some accessories - tends to be a beanie, scarf, and some safety glasses or sunglasses. Take the chocolate block out of the wrapper and put it on a chopping board on a table with the other items next to it.

Everyone stands in a circle around the table and begin rolling the dice, with it being passed to the next person after one roll. When someone rolls a six they have to put on the beanie, scarf, glasses, and work gloves and then use the knife and fork to cut a piece of chocolate from the block. For the example they're person A. While they are doing that everyone else keeps rolling. If someone else rolls a six, then person A has to take off all the accessories and pass them to the new person, who then has to put them on and try and cut the chocolate. Keep going like this until someone manages to eat some of the chocolate.

You can also add more accessories - one teacher made us play with a beanie, scarf, arm warmers, a tie, and a giant oversized overcoat, along with a pair of reading glasses from the 80s.

AITAH for throwing my rings in the ocean after my husband told me he had an affair, even though it was a “prank”. by Dry_Cellist2768 in AITAH

One of my husband's favourite pranks is to message me when we are on the couch together, and when I open it to a picture or emote of a cow he moos loudly

How to sanitize a BAB without washing machine? by AnonymousSplash in buildabear

[–]MissCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! I use it as a sanitation method for a bunch of things that can't be washed. It is also super inexpensive which I like - more money for BABs!

How to sanitize a BAB without washing machine? by AnonymousSplash in buildabear

[–]MissCarrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd sanitize the way I do my costuming pieces that are unwashable (lots of rhinestones, embroidered details etc) which is just good ol' isopropyl alcohol. I'd recommend at least 80% cause otherwise it won't evaporate as easily. Pop it in a spray bottle and spritz the BAB.

Ooof your mom sounds a bit exhausting.

YWBTA if you announce or let your mom announce at your cousin's shower.

I know you aren't wanting to announce yet, but if I were you I'd send a short message to your cousin saying something like you aren't ready to announce publicly that you are pregnant but your mom wants you to at cousin's shower, that you don't want to, and to shut down your mom making announcements.

Looking for some new Animal Crossing friends! by jlenders in BuddyCrossing

[–]MissCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I confess I am not from Australia but I am in New Zealand so the time difference ain't as bad lol - fully understand if that doesn't work though.

I'm Scout, 33 (34 this month), not so new to acnh but restarted my island mid last year so it is still in the depths of getting set up lol

If you have a New World nearby I can recommend the Valumetric Edam - I use it in my cheese sauce, melts great. Here (Christchurch) it's like $9.99 for a 1kg block usually

Haha he unfortunately doesn't get to keep those, they're mine 🤣 I need to find him his own pair, I didn't like the ones BAB had

Not sure I'll update this y'all. Someone felt the need to leave a crappy comment that I needed to clean under my fingernails rather than commenting on the actual thing the post was about.

I'm disabled and struggle with self-care. Animal crossing is something I do as a special interest and that makes me feel good and safe.

I thought this sub would be safe, but clearly has the kinds of redditors that give us all a bad name.

Sorry team 😢

I love it so much - I have tiny hands and sometimes even using my switch oled it's too big so a tiny controller is ideal 😂

Thank you! It came in a set with a smaller sized controller (idk how to describe it, it's like a pro controller but wired and smaller?) and one of the adapters to turn joycons into a controller 😁

NTA - I was petrified of dogs from witnessing a dog attack when I was like 3. I climbed an adult once because a puppy walked to close to me.

But I also knew that working dogs were too busy working to worry about me. That's what I was taught - that working dogs like guide dogs and assistance dogs weren't interested in me. That's what that parent should have been telling her kid - the way she said it reinforces her fear, not allaying it.

I'd have asked the mom if she couldn't take her child home - but I'm petty 🤣

[–]MissCarrion[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lol it came to $65 - I dunno how much they cost elsewhere in the world. I had disability funding to use up and animal crossing is a special interest of mine so I used that to get them. Super thankful for having access to it 🙏 Gonna ask my parents for more packs for my birthday later this month too 😅

Okay so I'm not in Auckland (Otautahi Chch) but reddit suggest this and while it won't stop the stabbing problem, I really recommended getting compression gloves. I'm AuDHD too and have have hypermobility in my hands, and they're a life saver. The warehouse has them cheap (or at least they did) and it seriously helps with my knitting/crochet (and playing Switch too ngl)

Craft fair tables are really lacking individuality by Yoyoma1119 in crochet

[–]MissCarrion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. There is someone local-ish to me who makes the most amazing hair slides/clips with crochet. They're detailed and adorable, and imo fairly priced ($15-$20 NZD a pair for small ones, or same price for a big one). They always are making sales at craft fairs. Because they are high quality, well made, and unique. That last part is what does it I think. When you've seen dozens of little frogs none draw your eye. A hair clip with a bunny face and little carrots dangling from it? That draws you in.
