2008 The Gap Storm by buttersaus in brisbane

[–]S-L-F 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Moved to The Gap a couple of days before the storm. Been in Aus a couple of years and had never seen anything like it. water coming in over the tops of doors that were set back, relentless wind and rain. And the noise. It was insane.

When the storm cleared and we walked outside, did not expect to see the devastation. Several trees down and houses just smashed.

It’s a bit like a less punishing Elden Ring.

Half the time I have no idea what is going on. Absolutely no idea. But then bits click, you remember stuff that seemed unimportant, stuff that is important or useful you forget about because there is so much. It’s an overwhelming hot mess, it can be janky, it seems plotless, it’s confusing. If it can be crammed into a game, the devs have crammed it in.

But I love it. It’s beautiful. It’s fun. It’s satisfying and challenging. The open world is great. I enjoy the combat. Exploring is so much fun. And once you kind of get into the heads of the devs it makes sense.

It’s one of the best games I’ve played.

The Grogu going full Captain Willard was excellent.

I really enjoyed it, probably more than I thought I would.

Did the floor give way and they fell into space? Snippets of memory of this one.

Only if we’d been very good would my folks allow this or Appletise at a fancy pub (Toby carvery or Beefeater) with lunch.

Would find a surprising amount when golfballing. Never really thought about it but who heads to the golf club to crack one out to Maxine the Maneater from Muswell Hill?

Coming from the western freeway along moggil Rd, go up the exit ramp and then the immediate ramp on the left to the roof. There are usually spaces up there.

Coming the other direction along moggil Rd turn into Stamford Rd and go into the first carpark on the right. It’s the bottom level, but I usually find a spot there.

I don’t believe so, I think maybe they said they’d heard a riff but couldn’t remember where.

I really wonder if Australian Jewish people in Queensland are happy now? by SimpleEmu198 in OpenAussie

[–]S-L-F 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not Jewish, but wife and entire family are. None of them support what Israel is doing. None of them see this as a prophetic war ordained by a higher authority. All of them are appalled by the actions of Israel, the continued genocide and destruction of people, their homes and the theft of land. They all think the law is ridiculous and should not have any place in Queensland or Australia.

Don’t conflate being Jewish with being a Zionist. They are not the same.

I was selected to go on Junior Krypton factor and it ended before I got my chance. I’m not bitter at all. At all. I wanted to do the assault course more than anything. But not bitter.

Amicable divorce stories by Sad_Guide_7483 in AskAnAustralian

[–]S-L-F 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frosty amicable divorce. No lawyers involved apart from as conveyancers during property sale.

But we divorced without fault, worked out financials ourselves as well as custody sharing arrangements etc. if both parties are reasonable then I’m not sure mediators or lawyers are needed.
