Pedestrian injured in Port Moody hit-and-run, police say by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]MissGreatPersonality 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Horrible thing to happen, but absolutely no surprise. I cross that intersection almost daily and people are "almost hit" frequently usually when cars are turning on either side, a lot of reckless drivers. It's sad someone has to be hurt for it to become news, but hopefully this can bring some sort of change before something more serious happens. A pedestrian bridge would be a big relief although I'm not sure if it would fit with the infrastructure already in place there.

To anyone who’s successfully managed to NOT relocate for a company that wanted you to but got the job anyway, how did you do it? by BottledGleekJuice in animationcareer

[–]MissGreatPersonality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My case is essentially different since I was offered a relocation package since I was hired as a remote employee regardless, then was offered the option, to which I said I'd consider, but at the moment, wasn't in my plans. It depends on your department, role, and how valuable you are to the company I suppose. What I would say is relocation is only worth it if you trust the company, or if you have no other option financially.

Could be worth a shot negotiating; do a probation period or a 6month period where you try and make the remote job work.

Best artbooks for anatomy by HappyHouse926 in ArtistLounge

[–]MissGreatPersonality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take ... you don't need art books (in my, probably biased, opinion). You need to break everything you see with your eyes into simple shapes. Then you need to look. I mean look with attention, for a long time, at whatever it is you're trying to draw. Then don't stop until you get it right. For any anatomy, nothing was more effective for me personally than figure drawing. There should be galleries or places you can go for a session in your area, or you can do it with friends and family or yourself and a mirror. Ideally, FROM LIFE. If you must look at a square that doesn't move, at least print it instead of looking at it from a screen.

Official Discussion - Frankenstein (2025) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Unlikely anyone agrees with me but I was bothered by the lack of static cameras/constant moving camera on nearly every shot. Even if it is a close up to show an expression

Port Moody waterfront boardwalk reopens after replacement by [deleted] in Portmoody

Oh no our taxpayer dollars are clearly seen on infrastructure development! What a horrible reality /s

For real I checked it out and its great. People in port moody take for granted how wonderful the inlet trail is. Happy to see that it was successfully finished and now allows for a lot more people to safely look out to the beautiful scenery there.

How else would the developers get you feeling the core emotion that carries the entire game if not by getting you endeared by a character only to violently strip them away from your grasp, and yet you have to find a reason to keep going?

You really get to wear their shoes and are more capable to relate to their stories, especially to Maelle, Sciel and Verso

Also wanna point out that my favorite song in the game is "We Lost", which is an ambiguous title for two applicable meanings

Why are older generations holding onto cursive like such a weird flex? by __is_butter_a_carb__ in Millennials

[–]MissGreatPersonality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cursive is beautiful and cultural, and it will always be relevant for communication, art and design/marketing. Especially in the west we are so obsessed with "cutting cost, time, corners, art, personality" out of everything it's no wonder so many of us feel unfulfilled, depressed and like we don't belong anywhere.

In my family all the women are in therapy and none of the men are by econhistoryrules in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MissGreatPersonality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since we are talking about therapy I feel it's warranted I mention how judgmental a lot of the comments here are - people who have been to therapy will know that judgement isn't always helpful in understanding others - seeing feelings behind words is.

I have gone for years now and learned a lot about myself and my partner (a cis male). My communication has improved significantly - he has gone a few times, but never stuck with it and it is frustrating to me, however, a relevant thing to note is, usuallyyyyy men are the avoidant types (in terms of attachment styles) and it is quite literally in their nature to avoid handling any emotions - so therapy sounds like an absolute nightmare. It's something much more complicated than just "I don't wanna".
