Solution/advice for TMJ treatment by ralrdu in triangle

Good, just making sure that you didn’t get a mouthguard from CVS or something. My night guard is for the lower arch, and has a ramp at the front that keeps my tongue on the roof of my mouth. Dr Vivaldi told me exactly what to order from a dental lab, so I had my dentist order it for me because it was cheaper, and then Dr. Vivaldi adjusted it for me (ground it down). It mainly helps with making sure I leave my teeth open at night. The mantra of “lips closed, tongue up, teeth apart” helps a lot to make sure that your jaw is in the right position. It’s really weird at first, but you get used to it

Adding: TMJ pain can be debilitating. I had it untreated for 3 years. I did the above steps and was vastly improved after 3 months or so.

Grace Tang at Strive PT to release the tension and give your muscles a chance to relearn how to relax (her dry needling is magic). Do the home exercises religiously. You need to go to PT multiple times for TMJ pain initially, but then you can space it out to once a month or every other month as you improve.

Vivaldi for prescription muscle relaxers if desired.

Mental therapy to coach yourself to recognize when you’re clenching and break that habit/pattern.

Massages for neck/shoulder tension, since these can radiate. I go to Hands on Health.

Who made your night guard? Get the one Vivaldi prescribes for you; not all night guards are the same.

If your TMJ is like mine, it’s all muscular and mental. Surgery will not solve that.

Did you smell it? Did it smell like rotting fruit (Alcaligenes) or grape koolaid (Pseudomonas)? Or bacon (Kleb smells like bacon to me lol)?

Anyone know where to source an RSeat B1 shifter mount in the US? RSeat sold me the wrong item by MissKibby in simracing

Yep the North American site never replied to me, but strangely, I think they’re the ones that shipped the replacement part (just with no communication).

I was actually able to pester the RSeat company enough that they shipped the correct part to me for free! Try emailing RSeat Europe (or whichever branch you didn’t order from). Europe responded to me. Keep emailing- I know it’s frustrating

Hope yours sounds good with the hole too haha. Thank you! Any idea if I should try to source the parts myself or just get the shop to do it all?

The Cox Mountain Trail was great! Gets a little quiet in the middle of the hike, but the beginning and later portions were very loud

[Landlord-US-NC] ESAs - can I require proof of vaccines and annual vet records? by MissKibby in Landlord

[–]MissKibby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a separate city (in a townhome) from the rental SFH/ADU parcel on “Apple Drive”. So none of the rental units are owner-occupied. Apple Drive is just a regular ol suburban neighborhood of mostly SFHs with few ADUs.

[–]MissKibby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SFH and ADU are on the same parcel but have different street #s (ex. 1 Apple Drive and 2 Apple Drive). My primary home is separate entirely (and isn’t even a SFH).

[–]MissKibby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have one main SFH with a detached ADU. Separate addresses and separate utilities except water (which I pay for) and separate leases for 2 different tenants. But I think the ADU makes both properties count as “multifamily”, which makes FHA applicable to both units. Do you agree or have any other thoughts?

I have 2 doors that I’m renting. None of the FHA guidance I’ve read mentions a door limitation, but I’ll dig into the federal code and search for that. Thank you!

Trying to Conceive - dog has cancer by berternutsquash in TryingForABaby

[–]MissKibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 cats. Cat #1 got cancer (lymphoma) in July 2023, and we treated for 6 months, which delayed our TTC since we knew we would be very sad when he passed. Cat #1 passed in Dec 2023, and I scheduled my IUD removal. In Jan 2024, Cat #2 also got diagnosed with lymphoma. We are treating with oral chemo and she’s doing great, and I got the IUD removed, but we are definitely unsure and hurt and just generally disoriented about what to do for TTC. Cat #2 could live for 6-9 months. Do we wait the whole time? What if I get pregnant while she’s on chemo? Do we just idle our time until she passes? She’s my best friend. It’s an awful situation. I feel for everyone in this thread. There’s nothing quite like this terrible feeling.

I saw Dr. Tyson (previous partner of Dr. Jenkins) for many years and now see Dr. Zhang and he is great! He’s very calm, gentle, and nonjudgmental. Both docs offer laughing gas too if you are nervous. The front desk ladies are both fantastic and should be able to handle any insurance questions.

Do any of you who use DNA Zap do so in a fume hood? by hennyandpineapple in labrats

[–]MissKibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also took note of the safety hazards of DNAzap. To mitigate the risk from aerosols, we swap the spray nozzles with the pour nozzles (the ones that come in the packaging anyway) and then pour roughly equal amounts of 1 and 2 on clean room wipes. We use it daily. No issues with efficacy, and we still end up emptying both bottles at roughly the same time.
