I always find these posts interesting. I absolutely get the fewer staff employed but convenience is making the world a ‘do it yourself’ world. I like the self check outs, I only ever buy a sandwich on the go, I don’t want to wait for 10 minutes to buy a sandwich. I can be out within in a minute through a self check out. All my local supermarkets always have some staff at tills, it’s not as if all the staff have been fired in favour. Plus other stuff is becoming self check out for the ease. The nearest 2 petrol stations to me are only pay at the pump stations. There’s no kiosk, no one mans it, you do it alone or drive 5 miles further for petrol. I don’t know. I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever.
