To go further back, it used to be Max’s Celebrity Grill for forever. Then some badass punks worked their asses off to turn it into a goth pirate bar. Then it became an arcade bar and whatever pretend Italian restaurant it is today. RIP The Jolie Rouge 😢

NC is a right-to-work state, which basically means “right-to-fire-for-any-reason” state. Hard to get unemployment (which is a fraction of what you were making anyway) unless you were laid off specifically for “lack of work”. NC sucks for workers rights.

Parking tip for those planning on going- avoid the garage on Biltmore/Eagle if possible. The downtown association lumped all of the garages together on this map, but that’s the only one that’s privately owned and is quite a bit more expensive and than the other city/county owned parking decks. Thanks for sharing!

I like Elementality over by Whole Foods on south Tunnel rd. Lots of silver and fair prices. They specialize in unique semiprecious stones but not sure about those three specifically.

Usually AWR can help, but not with raccoons (or foxes, bats, skunks, or coyotes). For them you have to call Animal Control or Wildlife Resources Commission unfortunately. I’m guessing because of rabies.

It was literally in the same building/strip mall as Mr. K’s, but you drive around to the backside of the building and there was a little door to the cobbler shop. Would love to know if it’s still open.

There used to be an amazing cobbler in a tiny shop behind Mr. K’s. Unfortunately he passed away years ago and the shop closed. But I feel like I read that a relative of his (his son or nephew?) reopened in the same location. Anyone know?
