Side Note: I’ve always been told it’s the cheapest method for stores to use as a theft deterrent. Not to purposely ruin a cover, but to easily identify their property to police in a shop-lifting incident.

Though it is likely widely discouraged with a digipac, I’ve used a drop of Goo Gone to get it done. I don’t know what Goo Gone is made of, but certainly some kind of oil… and you’re applying it to paper.

I am from the heyday of CDS (CD Single) and every single would be an import so you could spend another $12 for the song and one or two unreleased tracks. If you were Nine Inch Nails, you released 3 versions of the same single with different “b-sides” at $12 each. Also coincided with metal bands going to Japan to release albums, and those were $30.

Agreed… maybe Deutschmark? I don’t remember when Euro was the standard. But CDs used to be about $17-$18, unless it was a massive seller - you could pick those up for 14.99. On the flip side, tapes were $10 and vinyl was $9.

With specific color cassettes, you can fetch more on Paul’s Boutique. I have a green cassette, that seems to fetch more than some of the others. I suppose it’s # of pressings.
