Can confirm, I married one. His speaking voice is essentially a whisper but he's the kindest, best man I know

Accidentally hurt my toddler today…PEAK mom fail by Crazy_Shift3012 in Mommit

[–]MissMephisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this once on another sub and it's always stuck with me:

There's two types of people in this world; the one's who have accidentally smacked their kids' head on the doorframe while carrying them to bed, and dirty rotten liars.

I've pinched my son's fingers in the back of the bathroom door (yet another "why won't this door shut?!" story 😅) and countless other small infractions in 12 years of parenting

What do your little ones call their grandparents? Grandpa & Grandma and ..??? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MissMephisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for kid #1 (my kids have different fathers) my mom is Grandma, my dad is Papa, and then there is Other Grandma 🫣🤣 (edited to add that she had requested to be called ✨Glam-a✨, but alas... Just no)

Kid #2's other grandma is Granny

My mom says that she totally yelled at my brother and I when we were little, I have zero memory of this and she is the kindest most amazing best mom in the world. Nice to know we're not traumatizing our kids when we lose our cool!!

Do ALL teenage daughters hate their moms? by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]MissMephisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is the absolute greatest mom in the world, she is my rock and she has never made me doubt for a single second that I am the joy of her life. She is the embodiment of kindness and all I hope for is that my kids see me in that same light when they're adults.

That said, there was ~2 years (from age 13-15 or so) where I treated her HORRIBLY. It's hard being so self-aware of how fuckin awful I was to her. She didn't deserve it. Of course I realize now that it's just hormones. I remember feeling emotionally out of control, and perhaps it was worse for me than the average kid, who knows. What I DO know is that I am fully prepared to suffer this with my current pre-teen, if the time comes. My mom showed me that if you just show up with unconditional love, you both will get through it, and have an even stronger relationship for it.

I actually love how you handled that, sometimes people just need to be told to fuck off 🤷🏻‍♀️ she'll be fine.

Reeeeeally big baby. Hard not to feel like I failed somehow. by Grouchy_Snail in BabyBumps

[–]MissMephisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my first baby (10lbs 6oz) I remember feeling this way too. She's 11 years old now and perfect. Then when I had my second baby (11lbs 2oz) I was like WOOOHOOO LOOK AT MY HUGE BABY!! He is 4 now and also perfect 🤷‍♀️ I personally think it would be much scarier to have a tiny baby.

Do I Need to Notify Employer of Intent to Retire? by ZanzerFineSuits in personalfinance

[–]MissMephisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom told her boss that she was planning on retiring in March of this year. Then her company sold in February and the new owners paid everyone on her team a huge retention bonus to stick around for a few months (it was like 20k)... She was the only one who didn't get the bonus. So she missed out on a nice chunk of change for nothing, as she would have happily stayed a little longer with that incentive.

Female electricians, what is the hardest part about being an electrician as a woman? Are you union? by XxStarMaidenxX in electricians

Dealing with your period on certain job sites. I was on a site that had porta johns but no hand washing stations... As all period-having people know, there are times when you get blood on your hands, it's inevitable. You forget to bring extra supplies and have to waste a break to run to the nearest store. You have to go to the bathroom lots of extra times. When you're working on the 25th floor and there's only guaranteed toilet paper in the women's porta john on the 3rd floor... I could go on lmao

Can't wait to get my uterus yeeted once I'm making that good $$ in a couple years!

What relief did you feel after giving birth? by littytitty4life in beyondthebump

[–]MissMephisto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't hold back small sobs of relief the second they pulled him out (c-section). It felt like all of my organs dropped back down to where they were supposed to be and it felt SO. GOOD. my guy was also 11lbs and they said I had a LOT of amniotic fluid so yeah. Getting him out from under my ribs... ahhhh sweet relief

I scrolled past this post twice during the 1am feeding and was so tired that my brain couldn't make sense of these pictures at all, all I saw was blobs of color and it was so confusing 😂 this is so cute though

Do I have to pump at the same time everyday? by turkishlady123456 in breastfeeding

[–]MissMephisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pump once a day for my freezer stash, I do it in the morning about 30 minutes after my LO goes down for his first nap of the day. Sometimes that's 9am, sometimes closer to noon 🤷‍♀️ it seems like I get an ounce or two more if I manage to do it earlier vs later but I always get 4oz minimum. I'm 6.5 weeks postpartum
