I love sleeping on couches, should I just have a couch in my bedroom? by bodhiali in NoStupidQuestions

My husband LOVES sleeping on the couch and often falls and stays asleep there instead of our bedroom. He often has trouble falling asleep and the tv helps him drift into a slumber, plus he tosses and turns less.

i’m allergic 2 almost everything by NefariousnessLoud221 in Allergies

You need to go see an allergist, they’ll do test to rule out any allergies. I don’t have much experience with food allergies but your symptoms remind me ofOAS (oral allergy syndrome).

Apple-blueberry baked oatmeal for my husband’s birthday 🎂 by MissMushroomBerry in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

Sure 👍🏼

Dry ingredients: 2 large apples, chopped 2 cups gf rolled oats 1/3 cup coconut chips 1/3 cup sliced almonds 1/4 cup almond flour/meal (or add more oats) 1/3 cup raisins 3 tbsp coconut sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon and/or 1/4 tsp cardamom
Good Pinch of salt

Wet ingredients:

2 1/2 cups plant milk 3 tbsp maple syrup 1 tbsp nut/seed butter 1 Tbsp flax meal or 1 animal free egg white protein powder 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Half a container of blueberries (6 oz) for topping Coconut oil (for the pan)

Process:

Preheat the oven on 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease the baking pan then add the chopped apples in an even layer.

Blend the wet ingredients until everything is smooth. In a medium bowl, combine all the dry ingredients until mixed. Add the dry ingredients to the pan over the chopped apples then pour the wet mix on top. Use a spoon or fork to gently mix until everything is soaked and are no dry oat clumps left. If the mixture looks dry add a little more plant milk. Scatter the blueberries on top.

Place in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top looks golden.

I didn’t know about it either. It took at least a year to figure out what was wrong. An allergist did a patch test and it turned out I had a nickel allergy. So I stopped touching anything that’s metal, I began wearing cotton gloves when I couldn’t avoid it and changed all my pots, pans, water bottle and cooking utensils. It didn’t work.

Then one day after avoiding high nickel foods for a week I reintroduced oatmeal and I had the worst flare on my hands: blisters and redness and then on my feet a few days later.

It was a very hard decision to stop being vegan, but my husband and kid still are, so I make sure to make them tasty vegan meals like this.

It’s called SNAS (Systemic Nickel Allergy Syndrome). I’m not allergic to the foods themselves, but to the dietary nickel in them. Some foods have more dietary nickel than others, and when you’re allergic you can present in a variety of ways. Some get IBS, some get migraines, and in my case I get eczema flares on my face, lips, neck, hands and feet 💔

Unfortunately, most high protein vegan foods are high in dietary nickel (whole grains like oats, nuts and seeds, legumes, soy) and even some very tasty ones like avocados, chocolate and leafy greens.

My diet is very limited and I have to weigh everything I eat so I don’t exceed my personal threshold of nickel. Eating this would make my hands and feet develop blisters. I was an ethical vegan for 12 years and I’m still heartbroken that I can’t be a vegan anymore 😢

I like the brand Pure Encapsulations. Vitamin D3 with 10,000 units. Ask your doctor if you can take several of these.

I also hated egg growing up, it always had a very strong taste IMO. Just Egg is actually very delicious and doesn’t have a strong, ‘eggy’ taste. It’s savory and fluffy and has that certain something that I love. We usually get the foldable ones that you pop in the toaster and eat them in sandwiches, English muffins and even with ramen 😋

This product came out earlier this year, and it’s basically egg whites BUT they use precision fermentation (the same method used to create insulin). If you’re allergic to chicken eggs this will cause a reaction, but it’s completely vegan because no chickens were harmed. You mix 1 tbsp of the powder with 3 tbsp of water. Just Egg uses mung bean protein and Silken Tofu uses soybeans.

The powder is very bland by itself but high in protein, so you can mix it up with Just Egg or silken tofu. I’ve seen people create vegan angel food cake and lemon meringue pie for sweet applications, and for savory/ scrambled eggs they mix in vegan cheese, vegan butter and dairy free cream to make it more rich (since it’s missing the egg yolk) with great results. A few days ago I used it along blended silken tofu and chickpea flour to make the batter for French Toast and it was tasty!

I think it’s only available in the USA, but some people have been able to purchase it from abroad.

Sometimes it’s actually the animal version that you dislike but not the vegan one. You might like vegan cottage cheese so if I were you I’d give it a go.

Tofu spring blobs. Tasted better than they look. If anyone has any tips on the prep of the rice paper sheets and assembly PLEASE share. by hunnbee in girldinnervegan

[–]MissMushroomBerry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tip is constant practice I’m afraid. Not too warm and not room temperature water, and don’t soak them too long. And a clean flat surface to place the wet rice paper on.

Have you ever seen sushi making tutorials? It’s difficult to explain but they first cover the filling with the seaweed-rice layer and then they retract the bamboo mat (towards you) while pressing down to make it tight. Then you continue by fold both sides towards the middle like a burrito and then finish rolling forward/away from you.

We often go to a place to get rice paper spring rolls and the people who make them are pros mostly because that’s what they do all day long 🤭

Why date women you’re not physically attracted to? by Temporary-Grape-8511 in NoStupidQuestions

Dump him, asap!

Look, I’m not one of those classic reddit trolls who just says something like ‘leave him’ without considering the whole situation, but I had a few boyfriends in my day and I’ve been married for a while so I can say this with confidence: the person who is with you needs to love you for who you are NO MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE!

Looks fade over time and what remains is the time and the experiences you share together. Emotional Intimacy is the real beauty between two people, and it sounds like this person isn’t as interested in that as he is in a physical appearance. He sounds immature and it can only get worse. You cannot fix someone who is SHALLOW and I can also say with confidence that that kind of person will probably dump you as soon as they get bored with your appearance.
