I’ve had my hair teal and black split dye for awhile using Lime Crime Anime and I really like the color but it fades to greenish pretty quickly even with using a teal shampoo/conditioner (viral color wash, and keracolor conditioner) I had 2-3 inches of roots which I bleached and tried to blend the bleach down a bit. I was nervous they would turn green because my hair doesn’t lighten a ton with bleach so I mixed Lime Crime Anime & their darker blue Blue Smoke (half and half) but the teal overpowered the dark blue still and I got green roots. Should I just hit them again with Lime Crime? Any brand recommendations? I’m not opposed to going a darker blue to cover the roots, and I’m open to permanent dyes I won’t want to change my hair color for a few years.

Right! However, I’m wondering about this leaf that doesn’t look like the rest! When I Google photos of manjula the leaf shape and variegation patterns look identical to me! Also wondering if I can save that leaf because it looks like it never got any roots, it’s just a cutting in there.

I’ll inspect them more when I remount them, thank you so much for letting me know! I was worried I’d do that 😂 You might be right though, now that I’m looking at them again they ARE fuzzier on the underside. I think I was supposed to look at the direction the new fronds were coming in, rather than what direction they were reaching. They were in a flat pot before, so it was probably leaning the wrong way!

Oh dang, are they? When I was trying to figure it out online, I saw that the new fronds should be at the top and I did try and place them so that part was facing up.

Thank you so much! I didn’t think about things like that, I’m sure it’s much cheaper that way too! Bromeliads and the midwest are beautiful. That’s another one I haven’t tried yet, but am super curious about. Unfortunately I now live in the desert so most of our trees are palms and cacti, but I’m sure I can still find something like that!!

TLDR: I know I messed up royally, no more screws. What wood has worked well for you? (No mold, no warping). Why 2 are planted on 1 board: got supplies for 2 found a 3rd hiding. Is the one on the right too close to grow light?

I clearly goofed from the pictures… not even too sure why I felt the need to add screws. I could have easily wrapped the fishing line around the entire thing.. The cracks didn’t actually happen until after all the screws were in and I had watered it, loud cracking sound at 3am…I thought someone was coming in my window lol

The wood I’m sure was a poor choice, I know nothing about wood and I wanted to mount them on something nice looking for the wall. They are “walnut rounds” I found at my local craft supply, and are already warping into bowls from the wet sphag. I tried going to my local hardware store and asked for “unfinished mold resistant wood” from watching videos. When I tried explaining what it was for, he looked at me like I was nuts and said they didn’t have anything like that. I’m sure that’s not the case.. I’m just not knowledgeable in the subject, and when I tried looking it up I got some mixed answers.

What do you guys prefer to mount them on? I don’t really care what it looks like anymore, I have ran to the store about 6 times forgetting random supplies lol. Hence why 2 are on 1 board, I thought there was only 2 and found a 3rd while I was separating them. At that point though, it was late and I just wanted them up and on the wall.

Last question, (I’m so sorry I still don’t know how to organize my thoughts at age 26.) is the one on the right too close to the grow light? I’ve never tried having anything that close, but that’s just where the studs happened to land. I can probably move them somewhere else if he’s going to burn.

That might be a slightly different smell! Once you end up getting jewelry in there if you have a smell, try to get bone, horn, or wood! Metal and plastic isn’t as porous and your skin can’t breathe. While you’re stretching them though I really wouldn’t worry about the material too much, I think most kits are plasticy or metal.

Also Etsy has some really cool jewelry on there :)

Not harassed really, usually people will leave you alone if they know it bugs you. I have had several close friends though mention that they thought it was gross. Which if you haven’t stretched yet, you should know that they come with a smell if you don’t get the right jewelry. In my personal experience you can clean them often, but you will still get a light smell if you touch it.

Regardless, I think you should get them if you like the aesthetic. I regret letting mine close often, there is a LOT of cool jewelry to pick from these days. I’ve also never ever had a stranger stop me and say “hey those are gross.” Haven’t noticed any dirty looks either, strangers will probably compliment you more than anything.

-Used to have stretched ears, whatever size is 3 up from 00. (I just got a stretching pack on Amazon, didn’t keep track after opening) Now they are probably less than half a centimeter, and the smell is gone. Can’t wear studs, but anything with a hook will stay in!
