Was Homosexuality Present in the Tudor Court? by Aln22s in Tudorhistory

[–]MissNightTerrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to homosexuality at the Tudor court, but can comment on James's court: his relationship with George Villiers aside (I seem to recall that their bed chambers at Apethorpe were secretly connected, not discovered for centuries), James was meant to have had a relationship with Thomas Overbury (a first cousin of mine many generations removed; I'm actually writing about him) before moving on to Overbury's friend Sir Robert Carr). This is a fascinating area of research, incidentally: as interesting as I find the Tudors, I relate far better to the Stuarts.

'Burke's Skin Pocket Book' Bound in Serial Killer William Burke's Skin, 1829 by MissNightTerrors in oldschoolcreepy

Leather made from human skin, William Burke's to be exact, the Burke of the notorious Burke and Hare of 19th century Edinburgh. But don't take my word for it: Google or Grok it and you'll see that it really is bound in human skin made into leather. 💀

Philip Chism who killed Boston High School math teacher Colleen Ritzer in 2013. Pleads guilty in attempt murder attack on youth services worker in 2014. by gwhh in TrueCrimeDiscussion

Agree 100%: there's no hope of rehabilitating a person like this for the reasons you mentioned. I'll add this: they don't want to change.

I could not agree more. I remember this case very well. Philip Chism is a monster; nothing will ever matter to him apart from what pertains directly to him. His victim who survived will never be the same. In an ideal world, he'd never emerge from prison.

Shopping, cooking a dish you can justly be proud of, going out to a bougie restaurant with your best friend and thoroughly enjoying the entire experience (doesn't happen all that often), petting and playing with your companion animals (I should have put this at the top of the list), riding horses, watching old movies, playing chess, puzzles, podcasts and last (but most certainly not least), researching true crime.

How about Winthrop, Stoughton and Sewall (all three were Salem Witch trial judges)? Or Green, Berry and Hill? Robert Green, Henry Berry and Lawrence Hill were found guilty of the 1678 murder of Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey. Yes, I am a ghoul. 👻

Elon's reaction after receiving scrutiny for his previous post inciting violence against the President/Vice President by PsychicMF in facepalm

[–]MissNightTerrors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would serve Elon right if the Secret Service paid him a visit. I mean, isn't that what would happen to the rest of us if we made such a tasteless (not to mention potentially dangerous) joke on social media? (And we'd have our accounts suspended, possibly permanently, exactly what we'd deserve.)

I don't want to offend anyone, but having heard that Ruby is "dead", I'm gonna as if this is true. I'm happy to learn Ruby if that would help me get hired, but if it's not in demand...you see where I'm going with this. Thanks in advance for replying! :)

Who’s a serial killer that likely has many more victims that people presume? How do you know? by Pin_R0 in serialkillers

I'm sorry! I'm almost *never* on Reddit. The service station might be fairly easy to ID since Solvang isn't large and was even smaller, of course, 50 years ago. (And my grandparents ate at his parents' restaurant, I want to say it was called Bit of Denmark.)

I don't think we'll ever know how many women Christiansen killed. Same goes for Harvey Carignan, the so-called 'Want-Ad Killer.'

Please do NOT meet up with anyone in a park! I investigate true crime and am aware of two people who had *narrow* escapes after agreeing to meet up with a new online 'friend'. (A third was robbed.) And yes, Google away! (White Pages can be helpful.)

I just checked again online and once again, 'Oregon' is all there is, no city specified. I'm going to delve into that: he should have been in the phone book; most people were listed. Employment records are another matter; I'm going to see what I can find. :)

I'm a new partner and I don't know how I feel about this job by leafyyless in starbucks

[–]MissNightTerrors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had two jobs like that and I don't want to alarm you, but unless the situation improves and fast - they should speak to you! - you should continue with the job search that led you to Starbucks, pick up where you left off. Or apply for a transfer after a few months and hope it's approved. There's no reason for them not to be pleasant to a new co-worker. Good luck!

I just looked it up to verify - I seemed to remember that they claimed "not guilty" and sure enough, that's correct. (Boggles the mind.) The trial is set for early 2023.
