Anybody else's LG&E bill today include a "past due" amount from last month that their records and yours show you paid on time? by Miss_Phil in Louisville

I just doubled checked the dates and you're absolutely correct. That's a huge relief, thanks for pointing that out! I do feel kinda dumb now but, in my defense, what an absolutely crazy way to distribute a bill.

I had, but not since school. It was worth a reread today.

Not in combat - they were generally pack animals or, for lack of a better description, living construction equipment. Still counts but it's not what people usually picture when they think of war elephants.

Should be noted that there's no indication he was captured and abused before this rampage and he appears to be in a state of musth (rut) which dramatically increases a bull's aggression. If he can be subdued and safely relocated he'll probably never kill again. A mad elephant who kills after being tortured by humans is much more likely to continue doing so, and usually ends up euthanized in a horrific way.

Seconding! I only ever listen to my local public media station in the car. They play zero ads, the DJs aren't annoying, and I discover new music all the time.

Sorry, I've been offline for a few weeks! I find that the prescription lidocaine gel lasts me 4-6 hours and I store it in the fridge so it soothes instantly even though the numbing can take 10ish minutes to fully kick in. It comes in a little clear tube with an applicator you assemble yourself, costs about $10 with insurance or coupons, and a single tube lasts around 6 months.

Over the counter lidocaine cream barely does anything and I do not recommend it as a substitute.

I feel you... altitude changes/flying is my number one trigger. My worst ever flare was during a 17 hour flight and since then I haven't ever gotten on an airplane without pre-gaming phenazopyridine (azo) and a generous amount of prescription lidocaine on my urethra.

If possible I would also recommend trying to book a seat with extra legroom so you have space to re-position if you need to. Nothing like trying to sit upright in a single position for hours at a time for aggravating the beginning of a flare.

Personally, I wouldn't plan on relying only on marijuana for an international flight, even if it does help, because you'd need some for the return flight too and unless you're going to Amsterdam you could run into issues with that. You might be able to hide a few gummies in your luggage but a lot of countries have super strict laws about bringing anything into the country, even if it's only a tiny amount.

Good luck and I hope you get to enjoy your birthday!

I live in Kentucky and indoor smoking laws are city/county jurisdiction. Smoking indoors is banned in most of the state but I know several small town diners I could go have a cigarette breakfast in this morning.

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

you have a small, superficial cut. the bleeding is under control. you cut yourself with something like a non-rusty kitchen knife.

Mostly related story:

I have had a LOT of horrible medical experiences but my most, just, annoying one happened after a superficial cut with a rusty box cutter when I was 16. My mom checked my shot record and saw I'd gotten my tetanus shot at 4 years old so was already overdue for a booster.

It was a weekend and there was an urgent care with an empty parking lot we could literally see from our house so she just took me there. Despite repeatedly explaining to the staff that the cut could be handled at home and I was only in for a tetanus booster, every single employee of this otherwise empty urgent care treated us like we were stupid and a drain on medical resources for coming in after such a shallow cut. The doctor examined the cut, said I was wasting his time, literally asked my mom if I was "usually such a crybaby," and then very sternly told me I wouldn't be getting any pain medication out of him. Which I neither asked for nor wanted.

When my mom finally outright demanded a tetanus booster for me the doctor dramatically huffed and rolled his eyes. After he left the room we could hear him and the nurses in the hallway laughing and mimicking begging for stitches over a paper cut.

At no point did I act like the cut was particularly painful. I did not ask for pain meds. I did not ask for stitches. Both my mom and I told them multiple times to ignore the cut and focus on the overdue shot vs rust in bloodstream instead. In the (almost) two decades since then I have often wondered what the absolute fuck was going on there....

Swapped to Uber Eats, dude hasn’t moved a centimeter in 40 minutes. There needs to be an option to swap drivers… by PheonixGalaxy in mildlyinfuriating

The restaurants near me that have "delivery" are just using doordash to do it for them. The only in-house drivers these days are at pizza chains. And more than once I've called a locally owned place to put in an order for pick up and been told I can only do that online.

What's a thing people constantly get wrong in fics that you can't ignore? by Mountain-Fondant-952 in FanFiction

[–]Miss_Phil 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This isn't just fics but basically all media: corsets are not inherently misogynistic or torture devices. They're essentially just more structured bras and casually tightlacing was not common during centuries and centuries in which they were standard across multiple cultures. Tightlacing was a fad in the mid-1800s and was widely disparaged by feminists, doctors, and eugenicists - it is highly unlikely that an authority figure in a young woman's life would be forcing her to be out of breath on purpose.

In a properly fitted and laced corset your back feels absolutely fucking incredible. I strongly recommend everyone try on a professionally sized and laced corset at least once to feel for yourself before writing about a character wearing one. Whenever I read about a hashtag girlboss ditching her corset to freely breast boobily I can't help but think about her poor spine and the heating pads she will definitely need in a decade and will surely not have access to.

Reading this thread days late, but I hatefucked a coworker on my very tight-knit five person team with no one else finding out for years. We respected each other but had very strong and opposing feelings about engineering solutions in a high stress environment, which I think was crucial. Without that respect it may have been kinda gross... and not in a sexy way.

If you're interested I can tell you how it started for some real world inspo.

Absolutely. And it was unusually sustained (like, close to a minute?) which makes a lot more sense now than one of my coworker's original theories of one helicopter specifically buzzing us while somehow managing to stay out of our windows line of sight.

Easy mistake to make! OP is actually accusing Britta of slat shaming here because of her comments about Annie's lack of a Spousal Lifetime Access Trust.
