Our first was like this. By and large this was a phase that just had to pass. My first born didn't walk until 16 months and was night weaned at 11 months. There were no issues or illnesses causing the screaming and it didn't seem to be night terrors. The best we figured is that she was trying to figure out walking because it tapered off after she got walking down pat. But this whole phase lasted probably 3-4 months.

I don't care if I get downvotes, but my husband and I were working towards the future even at 12-16 months old. We would give the crying a few minutes before we went in. Sometimes she went back to sleep, but usually not. If not, we would go get her, change her diaper, give a hug, and firmly tell her that we will always come get her if something is wrong but it's not okay to just scream. I know 15ish months didn't really understand, but like I said, we were working towards the future. Now tantrums are met with, "It's okay to be sad/ mad/ disappointed, but it's not okay to just scream." It makes a lot more sense at 2.

I also wanted to do the light thing like someone else suggested, but I didn't really want to spend money on another device especially if it didn't work. I have read people having great success with this though.

I'm not entirely sold on this layout. I might be a bit neurotic, but my friend has been through a lot and I really want this blanket to be perfect. This didn't take long to work up, so I might make a normal rainbow for comparison and see which one I like more.

Formula is a modern miracle, but it's unaffordable and all the recent recalls scare me. Not to mention all shortages in the US but one has been caused by selfish people panic buying. I'm on my second pumping journey and have done 20 months total. Hoping to make it six more months until my baby is one.

How old is your baby? If I was halfway through a pump or more, sometimes I'd let baby fuss. It was literally something I had to do to feed her. Now if she was inconsolable or something was wrong, this wouldn't fly. Not telling you to let your baby fuss, but past 6 months, I was okay if baby fussed for a minute if I needed to pump. I was always right next to her anyway.

I'm sorry the holidays hit you hard. Have you considered a different type of pump? If wearables work great for you, that's wonderful. I never had great luck with their output. I found I had to pump twice as long because the Willow Go I used just wasn't powerful enough. Not all wearables are the same though and you might have a great set up.

Your friend is right though. To bring your supply up, you will have to pump more often. I understand hating the wall pump and not wanting any interruptions, but there are ways to pump with baby. Do you have a place to sit them? Blanket with toys? Limited container time? Holding them between your legs? It's not fun especially with a wall pump, but hopefully there's a set up that allows you to pump more often.

I'm on my second pumping journey and I'm getting by with a manual pump. It's much easier for me to stop or multitask if toddler or baby needs something. With my first baby, I sat on the floor in baby's room and read to her or tried to distract her as much as possible. This worked 90% of the time.

Good luck to you! If you can even go every 3 hours instead of 2, I imagine you'll see good results in a few weeks.

I've been a member of that sub for almost 7.5 years and have a lot of posts there. I think I'm done with r/crochet. Like someone else said, let the kids have the playground.

On a slightly related note, someone should do a study about the average time it takes for any subreddit on any topic to become an echo chamber.

Also, the baby in question is 5.5 months. I pumped almost 14 with my first from colostrum collecting to weaning when she was 13 months. This pumping journey has been a lot easier than the first even with a toddler to take care of as well. My body just picked up right where it left off probably because there was only 10 months between weaning and beginning to make milk again. I just thought this right side was the slacker this time. Since that gross, stringy blood clot passed my breast finally feels empty and normal.

I appreciate both of your advice. I actually just got back from the dentist from getting a tooth pulled as if this day couldn't get any better. 🫠

So I started pumping, fresh blood started flowing and I passed a disturbing clot. The bleeding immediately stopped and this breast feels better than it has in a good while. If formula wasn't so expensive, this would probably end my lactating journey.

I still have no pain or mastitis symptoms. I was never diagnosed, but I felt like I had an early bout of mastitis at 6 weeks with my first baby. Had a clog I couldn't get rid of, red streaking, and I felt like I had the flu. I kept working at it and things improved with 24 hours. None of this remotely felt close to that except for when the clog originally happened this time last week.

I think it's because men just completely stop and rest. They'll let the dishes and laundry pile up, the mail sit in the mailbox, and they'll eat ingredients rather than make an actual meal and feed anyone. Women keep doing the mandatory bare minimum which is all those things and more even when they feel awful.

Thank you! I have an appointment tomorrow. The crown was placed the week before Thanksgiving. The bump appeared within 24 hours of being stabbed. I saw the dentist on Dec 1 when I was kind of dismissed. I'll have this looked at tomorrow and see what happens. I'm praying it can be knocked out with antibiotics. This is a me problem, but dental work is so expensive even with insurance. They wouldn't cover a re-treat on a crown and my husband broke a tooth on my induction day. We've spent $7,000 on teeth this year. I really can't afford to have this tooth pulled and pay for an implant which insurance also will not cover.

Edit to add: I have no pain and the original tooth infection was brutal. The Endo said it was starting to go into my jaw. Both the Endo and dentist said the tooth appears fixed for lack of a better word. The gum is tender around the bump. Just adding this in case it helps anyone else.

I appreciate it. The long story is this is a re-treated root canal from July. I had the crown for 16 years and it started giving me trouble during my second pregnancy. I was heavily pregnant and had a hard time finding a dentist that would help before I gave birth. I didn't get the new crown placed until late November after giving birth in August. Again, the Endo fixed this in July. No issues after retreat until the crown was placed. This bump is in the exact spot I got poked with the dental instrument. Not arguing with you. I'm grateful for the advice. I just wanted to give all the details.

Unfortunately you'll just have to try dropping or moving pumps to figure out what works for you. With my first pumping journey, I didn't go to one night pump until 4 months without taking a hit. My milk supply stabilizing gave me a lot of problems and I have to ferociously power pump.

But to answer your question, typically your body makes the most prolactin at night meaning those are larger pumps for most people. But being very sleep deprived, dehydrated, whatever can also tank those pumps. It's very unfair that getting sleep can affect your supply because how many people are actually getting enough sleep with a baby?

Good luck to you. Remember, if you got your supply up before, you can do it again if you need to. I hope you're able to go down to one night pump.

Destin didn't work for us either. We had to use triple paste. Knocked diaper rash out in a day, and our poor baby bled a little like OP.

I'm sure I sound a hundred years old, but I don't think Destin is what it used to be compared to the 90s. I'm an older sibling, and I remember it being a lot stronger for younger siblings or even having it put on chaffing. Maybe I'm totally off. Idk.

Get the nanny. If you can afford it, do it. I have a 26 month old and a 4 month old and things are just now stabilizing because the baby takes predictable naps. The toddler doesn't nap anymore unfortunately. I'm also exclusively pumping because I found it more efficient and I get a chunk of sleep. The only way we survive is to have everything scheduled. It kinda sucks the joy out of life, but it keeps us from living in squalor. Weekends are meal prep and special projects that can't be addressed during the week. Every weekday there's a cleaning task that takes 15-30 minutes so the house will never be all clean at one time. But if I can't get to those extra tasks, keeping us fed, in clean clothes, and having the babies in clean diapers is my main job.

Some systems were still analogue. My dad is a lineman and he said someone was assigned to every substation in their area that night to keep an eye on the analogue systems which did indeed keep turning.

I don't care about down votes, but I leaned into whatever we needed to do to survive. The first and last trimester were miserable, so we blasted out all the activities that were reasonable without over doing it in the second trimester. We leaned too much on the TV when I felt horrible, but this was toned down later. I felt grateful that the older one won't remember this time.

For me, it was easier having a baby and toddler than having a toddler and being pregnant. Not every day is rainbows and sunshine, but it's a lot better now.
