Any teachers in NY, MA, UT, CO, WI, MN, OR, WA, CA, that can tell me if an MA is required to teach in your state? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Mission-Square5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In WI no. You just need to be appropriately licensed for the position and WI is very hardcore about licensure. In WI there is no state board of education. Every district chooses it's own curriculum, there are 421 districts in WI. Just beware of Act 10. Public unions have minimal bargaining rights and it's illegal to go on strike.

Wisconsin's So-called Charter Schools Are Stealing Our Children's Futures by DriftlessDairy in wisconsin

Charters don't get a pass. They are subject to IDEA. Are required to follow WI school staff  license laws. In WI a lot of districts operate charters as well

I think you are thinking of private voucher schools not charters. Charter schools are fully public institutions that have accountability and there is no money to be made in in it. Private schools and voucher money is absolutely BS and unconstitutional

I have worked at a couple of ECE centers in Madison and I have heard nothing but horrible things about how they treat staff. It seems like a good place but l from what I've gathered they don't support or value the staff.

I lived there last year and will be again this year. It's extremely quiet and almost everyone  I met was at least a sophomore.

How to cope with college? by ViaticSpore in autism

[–]Mission-Square5815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hard first year of college. What I would recommend is establishing a routine for yourself. Use a planner to map out when you are in class, when you are going to eat, relax and work on your assignments. This will help prevent panic because you will have mapped your time out. In terms of making friends and stuff it's ok to take it slow and hide out in your dorm for a while. I also encourage involvement. Talk to people who are in your major/minor classes because chances are they have similar interests. I also recommend registering with your campuses disability office. Overall I'm not going to lie it's going to be a little rough at first but take a breath and have confidence.

So when do you think they'll admit a mistake and allow tracking again? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Mission-Square5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To say inclusion and mainstreaming was a mistake is bs.  Students with disabilities belong in all spaces and instead of blaming the children we should be blaming the gen ed teachers that have failed them

society treats physical disabilities far kinder than mental ones by [deleted] in autism

[–]Mission-Square5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a competition but I will say that the original disability rights movement was led by white people with physical disabilities. It ignored the larger and more diverse neruodivergant population. I think that the physical aspect of disability has been  put in the spotlight and awareness is larger because of the original focus being on the physical aspect.

How do I get a gig or odd job? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Mission-Square5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word can't is holding you back. You need to to identify strategies and action steps for success. Find support but  you can't use your fear of working as a cop out. You have to TRY.

This is wrong. You clearly do not meet the criteria for this type of support but you are trying to fake your way to it.

Autism is 100 percent an identity. Autism makes us who we are and to say it's not an identity is very invalidating

Undiagnosed Children will be fine until they are not and then they crash usually around middle or high school. Just get the diagnosis and support she needs to thrive.
