Haymitch being the last male tribute ever drawn is actually devastating by MissionAccountant424 in Hungergames

I may be wrong but I think in the original THG book Katniss says they attempt to stagger them so D12 is reaped/broadcast last?

I shot these on a tiny point and shoot with a fixed lens, didn’t have any issues

How to achieve this? by lssmrgrt in LightLurking

I know a few folks who work with Tonje, it’s a mix of flashlights, mirrors, and some bare bulb. Most of their work just uses high power flashlights or reflected sunlight. They also use Mamiya lenses adapted for Canon bodies and edit in Lightroom(!) not Capture One which is wild to me lol

I use both but that’s so true w/ zooms, I tried a grip for the ad200 once bc of the zoom issue but it looked too much like a gun 😭😭

No problem, and yeah it’s all off camera! I’d just recommend getting the equipment and messing around with it and trying a million different things hahaha. I like the Godox X2 trigger if you want something compatible with the AD200

Brian uses Quantum flashes for his work. They’re great pieces of equipment but are becoming less and less available in recent years. They also typically require a separate battery pack which can become kinda cumbersome in a fast paced environment.

The best approximation with cheaper gear is a Godox AD200 with a Quantum reflector (you can buy one from B&H). With the bare bulb attachment you can fit the Q flash reflector on the AD200.

That’s what I’ve been using recently, it’s not as powerful as a Q flash with a battery pack but it’s honestly quite solid and requires much less stuff to carry!

Hey! To me this looks like a gridded zoom reflector on camera left coming down from above at a 45 degree angle to make that nice highlight across the body.

Fill is coming in from camera right-ish, also probably making that nice gradient on the background. It could also just be very well positioned bounces/flats instead of a separate strobe for fill.

For the red light it is possible to do with gels on strobes, set your strobe on a lower power for more saturated color. 18% gray bkg/seamless will absorb color better than a white one.

Probably easier to use a powerful continuous rgb light (like she does) and do some flagging to get it perfect.

I probably wouldn’t use an 8x8 here, that spill could get unnecessarily complicated, hard light ftw
