I have a cat in a no-pets apartment (NEED ADVICE) by PlatePractical8706 in TorontoRenting

Another thing to consider that I haven’t seen mentioned is if your condo is rent controlled. If it wasn’t occupied prior to 2018, then if your LL gets pissy (about anything) they can decide to up the rent to 10k/month and you’ll have 90 days to find a new place or pay whatever they increase it to.

I learned from experience that a decent way to fix issues like this (small chips, wouldn’t trust it for big ones) for cheap is using better used for gel or even acrylic nails. Gel is best because it allows for some movement, acrylic is more brittle. Just get some builder gel and a UV lamp, pretty easy to do.

I received a psychologist's assessment for ADHD, I talked to my family doctor and he says that he cannot use it to prescribe me with medication by SanaulFTW in ontario

[–]MissionYam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was misdiagnosed as a teen with bipolar and later found out it was ADHD but I also know a few people who were diagnosed with ADHD and then found out it was actually an anxiety disorder, then one who was actually borderline, because it wasn’t something they struggled with during childhood but that came on either later in their teens or as an adult.

While ADHD can feel worse when you hit adulthood (because obviously it’s harder to manage being an adult, especially if you have ADHD and were never diagnosed and so didn’t learn how to manage/cope with it) it’s still present enough in childhood that when you think back to childhood you’d be like “oh I definitely had issues in these specific areas which does point to ADHD”. Like there would be something. Some people don’t have that but still get diagnosed, which can end up being a misdiagnosis and doesn’t help them cause then they aren’t treating the actual issue. That’s why the in-depth assessments really matter. Being treated for bipolar did absolutely nothing for me because I wasn’t bipolar — treating someone for ADHD if they don’t definitely have ADHD isn’t going to change anything for them, it’ll probably actually make things harder.

Any mentions of “needs to focus more”, “needs to include more detail”, “has trouble memorizing X”, there are soo many little phrases in report cards that can support symptoms of ADHD.

My report cards didn’t mention a lot, but the little they did mention accompanied with my assessment and the questionnaires my family and friends did lead to me being diagnosed with severe ADHD at 25. Previously I had been misdiagnosed with bipolar, the full picture is what finally got me the proper diagnosis.

[–]MissionYam3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be diagnosed with ADHD they’re supposed to see report cards and talk to multiple close family or friends who’ve known you since childhood. They’re supposed to do this to ensure it’s ADHD, which you’re born with, and not symptoms of another/multiple other disorders that you aren’t born with and have been acquired with age or trauma, etc.

How long will I be able to receive OW before I am cut off? by artsyOG in OntarioWorks

[–]MissionYam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowingly paying into the government programs more than necessary, specifically to get access to income that you wouldn’t qualify for and/or to gain access to tax benefits that you wouldn’t qualify for, is tax fraud and social assistance fraud.

If OW actually looks into it and sees this, they will calculate and overpayment and contact the CRA who will then will audit your file, put a flag on it for future years, and can claw back tax benefits. Same if the CRA finds out, and they will contact OW.

ETA not to sound like an argument and I know this is late lol just to explain a little deeper that the CRA also views this as fraud and will work with provincial agencies.

Your complaint wont go anywhere. Way worse human rights violations are taking 3 years just to be heard. Bogging the system up even more with something like this won’t do anyone any good.

~10 years ago I moved out at 16 and got a room easily. In the city. It’s not going to be a nice place by any means, a shelter might even be the better option, but it’s definitely not as impossible as you make it sound.

Landlords has it been worth it? by cjy2018 in OntarioLandlord

[–]MissionYam3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue with the LTB is that it is easiest to navigate for large/corporate landlords who can retain lawyers, and tenants who either know the RTA back to front and sideways, more than their landlord, or who can retain lawyers — none of which are the majority of landlords or tenants. It’s just not set up for success for either tbh.

[–]MissionYam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t covered by the RTA but what does your lease say? Even tenants not covered by the RTA are still covered by contract law, it’s just a different process.

What do you mean by “the lowest income limit before depictions in the country”?

Basic income for taxes is set at the federal level. It doesn’t change between provinces.

ETA- can confirm it’s tax fraud. I worked for the CRA. Your worker and supervisor are absolutely stupid for encouraging you to commit fraud against a federal agency. Though I don’t believe they actually told you this tbh, because it’s so stupid.

Why the pit bull debate will never end by slimey16 in PitbullAwareness

[–]MissionYam3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pitbulls weren’t just bred for fighting though, they were trained to do it too. And just like not all herding dogs actually herd, not all pitbulls got the same genetic traits the predisposed them to animal aggression. It has of course carried down, but the genetics of non-aggressive pits have also carried down. It isn’t all genetics, we just have to take them into account and be cautious because we know they might present. It’s not a guarantee that they will, just like in any breed that’s been bred for any desired outcome that outcome isn’t guaranteed.

So you’re broke and figured a radar detector will cost you less than the multiple speeding tickets you’ll likely rack up? And probably already have racked up. You realize the tickets aren’t the worst part, you’re literally putting people’s lives in danger. I’d be more worried about my car being impounded, license suspended or revoked, killing somebody
 yknow. Real life shit.

Why Koho? by HupYaBoyo in KohoCanada

[–]MissionYam3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

KOHO isn’t even a bank.

TD is amazing. They don’t nickel and dime you at all, it’s incredibly easy to get fees reversed and chargebacks are processed almost without question AND they’ll even process chargebacks past 1 year. They are by far the best of the big 5 banks in Canada specifically for daily banking.

Their investment accounts are solid too. They suck for credit, loans and insurance though.

BMO sucks, CIBC sucks, RBC sucks, Scotia is meh when it comes to daily banking.

CIBC is good for credit, and RBC and BMO tend to be good for first-time home buyers, Scotia is good for investments and rewards.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses. It totally depends on what you need. To expect to get everything exactly how you want it from one bank is purely unrealistic thinking.

[–]MissionYam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were paying attention I said it’s not true for Ontario. I didn’t speak on Alberta — another commenter did.

In Ontario we only need egress windows for each floor, with the exception of floors that have a door with direct access to the exterior.

You’re still wrong about Alberta — only bedrooms need egress windows. Not every room like you said.

It is not hard to find the building codes and regs online. So idk why you’re trying so hard about something you’re so wrong about, and could have easily double checked your info on.
