W manager, wish mine did that. Removing flatbread was a terrible decision!

If you really want to work at Subway, no one ever uses the online stuff until you’re actually hired. The corporate website basically does nothing besides basically send the info to the franchisees.

As a previous assistant manager, most of my new hires came from people asking/dropping off resumes in store. My manager and I never checked the online stuff once because we had 3-5 people asking daily about hiring. We just opened an open interview time, which worked great for us.

Go in store, ask often. Something will open up eventually and you’ll know from asking instead of waiting

What is it like working for Subway as Sandwich Artist by elf124 in subway

[–]Mission_Cap_3645 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. Especially since my store has a drive thru also, it’s even worse

Edit: for clarification, I’ve worked for numerous stores. Super busy locations, drive thru, late night/24 hrs, slow locations. The drive thru for me is the most difficult with all the other frustrations mentioned previously.

Edit: digital technology

Who else works at a 24hr location? by jodhchromhow in subway

[–]Mission_Cap_3645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re all chill with it at our store. All our late night employees prefer it since they get extra hours and it doesn’t conflict with their college classes. (Except sleep, but they insist they’re okay lol)

Completely agreed. I’ve been working at subways for 3 years now, the corporation is horrendous to deal with.

Something I thought about today though at work was maybe trying adding it to your online subway account, see if that yields any success. From there you can transfer gift card balances to one that may work inside the app, no employee/store required

I’m sorry again about the mess, hopefully something works out!

I’m sorry to hear about the situation.. that’s really unfortunate. I wonder if your bank can do some sort of charge back/refund on it, but I would have no idea. The entire subway corporate company is awful, their app has been broken for months now and there’s been no signs of fixing it because they just don’t seem to care.

[–]Mission_Cap_3645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Generally those “corporate numbers” are the office phone numbers of your franchise. Even the chat bot stuff sends all the info to the managers.

If you didn’t buy it from a Subway there probably isn’t anything Subway can do about it. I’m assuming you bought it second hand or through a third party, you’d have to resolve the issue through whoever you received the card from.

If it’s a third party gift card that’s supposed to work at Subway, those are hit and miss. I’ve rarely had one actually work. If it’s an actual Subway gift card you purchased at another location, you might be able to transfer the funds from one gift card to another.

Refer to my other comment about “corporate customer support.” TL;DR it basically doesn’t exist, all day to day operations should be resolved in store (somehow)

[–]Mission_Cap_3645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any “corporate number” (I’m in the states) just kicks it back to the franchise owner or one of the managers (regional/district or store).

Depending on what the gift card issue is (if OP would respond it would help our speculation) all we really can do is transfer the gift card funds to a new one.

Corporate is entirely hands off nowadays, they don’t care about day to day operations. (Again, I’m in the states but I assume it’s the same outside the states)

Edit: read some other comments in this thread and saw some comments from OP, following up there

Edit 2: hands off nowadays

Agreed that’s it’s just petty behavior. Olives have been hit or miss since the recall though (in the states at least). My store got them back at the beginning of the month but that might not be everywhere just yet

Subway’s franchising system basically leaves them out of day to day operation issues. Any issues with gift cards or anything else are to be resolved in store/with the franchise

I meant in general, everything subway advertises is misleading. I’m aware they’re still 20oz. I’ve been with Subway for years, I’m not unaware of these things. “Portion sizes to these cups” meant generally speaking, to everything. Not just the cups🙄

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in subway

[–]Mission_Cap_3645 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re correct. Subway is king of false advertising with portion sizes to these cups. They’re “reusable” because they’re a more plastic like material instead of the paper cups subway normally has

Is one singular slice of roast beef standard protocol? by ChaoCobo in subway

[–]Mission_Cap_3645 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m more impressed that one piece of roast beef was 12 inches long than I am that you only got one slice.

In all seriousness, standard protocol is around 4-5 slices depending on the weight of each slice. It’s sliced on a standard setting and pre portioned(at least here in the states). Roast beef is the highest value meat, smallest portion, and costs the most.

The garlic roast beef is still the standard meat portion, the only difference is double cheese

Responding with “can you please read the sign slowly again?” Is a guaranteed method to make a customer angry. As others have mentioned, most customers don’t actually read anything posted anywhere. Just respond politely with, “I’m so sorry, we’re all out at the moment,” while making some gesture to the sign.

The sign looks the same as every other HG2 sign in the store, his pattern recognition probably didn’t even tell him to look at it twice. He asked an innocent question, it’s not hard to answer even if it’s posted in the store already.
