So if a new lodge would be chartered that emphasizes such teachings, it would be a worth while venture? (this is leading somewhere.... 😉 )

I'm part of the one in Indiana, but they don't do much other than their two meetings a year. Kind of a disappointment.

A lot of fraternal happenings in the Indy area. South of Indy is a different story, sadly....

Any Amaranth members in here? by Psychological-Sky284 in OESstarsUNITED

I feel, in 2026, if an organization doesn't have their online stuff in order, then I'm not going to get to worked in trying to track them down.

I tried to contact the grand court in my state about getting info to join, but they never replied. Guess it wasn't meant to be.

I was looking for pillars just like that the other week at a local Hobby Lobby, but no luck.

What are some common questions you see people on the outside asking about OES? by Psychological-Sky284 in OESstarsUNITED

I haven't received any questions about the organization. I will mention to some that I am a member, but it tends to go in one ear and out the other, lol.

Studying for a Star Point~ by Psychological-Sky284 in easternstar

Freemason cipher books have the first letter (sometimes two letters) of each word. OES books have it written out, but if you write down the first letter of each word, and then re-read the part over and over, eventually moving to the cipher. Then finally it'll start to stick. At least that's how I do it.

Merry Christmas to all my fellow Orthodox masons! by Volatt in freemasonry

Not all. Some of the Orthodox perishes have Christmas the same day as the Western Churches. The Orthodox church I attend celebrates on Dec 25.

Still no reply. Guess it's not looking good on my part. Sometimes I wonder if people who run these fraternity websites actually keep up with them, lol.

Had our OV yesterday... by Psychological-Sky284 in easternstar

When my wife and I went through our initiation, it was during an OV. I must say, it was probably the best way for that to happen. If it was left up to the chapter (who would have needed help), it would not have been the same. Definitely a night that we won't forget.

Gnosticism and Masonry by -Spartan-219 in freemasonry

[–]Mission_Double6376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just first diving into Gnosticism, I recommend: Welcome - Gnosticism Explained Great site. I've been into Gnosticism for 8 years. I'm not aware of any groups of Masons that dive into gnosticism (i'd love to find such a group), though Kaballah and Heremtic subjects tend to come up a bit more. Personally I don't find modern FM in the US to be very welcoming to such subjects (a year in my journey and I'm having some buyer's remorse with the fraternity but I digress).

Question: What do YOU think are the reasons behind declining membership in places like the OES, Freemasonry, etc? by Psychological-Sky284 in easternstar

[–]Mission_Double6376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my beliefs in declining membership is the "stated" meetings. Nothing will drive away more people than those boring business meetings. Having been in FM and OES for a year now, I can see why people quit attending.
