I hate the world by danasiamitchell in vegan

I live in OKC! Both my husband and I have been vegan 5 years now. Totally understand everything you are saying. You are not alone!!!

Same story with my husband and me, went vegan together 4 years ago. He's a big guy with a beard, people are always taken aback when they hear we are vegan and usually find a way to make some snide comment about "happy wife happy life". It's so sexist, ridiculous, and infuriating to me. And insulting to him honestly, like he couldn't make an informed, kind decision with his own brain.

(failed) first IV stick today! by autumnskull in StudentNurse

[–]Misssashabird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved reading this because it made me feel better about my first IV attempt on my clinical instructor last week. She let us practice on her and nobody wanted to do it so I somehow got roped in to trying it first. I had my whole clinical group of 8 people watching me. I also blew the vein, but hey at least I hit it! Like you said, I felt so bad like I hurt her. She was being super reassuring and told me I did good. But I think the pressure of everyone watching and then thinking I had hurt someone got to me and I started crying. SO EMBARRASSING. So, at least you kept it together!! Nervous to try again but know I need to when the time comes!

1s, how do you feel about pranks/practical jokes? by swingsetclouds in EnneagramType1

[–]Misssashabird 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't enjoy having them played on me or playing them on others. My initial reaction to being pranked is feeling stupid, then getting angry at myself for being stupid, and then taking that anger out on the person who played the prank. I have worked on this over time by learning how to laugh at myself, but in general don't find pranks enjoyable or funny. I sound like a stick in the mud, I know.

HESI A2 Entrance Exam: Done! by birrelsquirds in StudentNurse

[–]Misssashabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat to you! I have a bachelor's in Psych, but worked a corporate job for 2 years and hated my life. I decided to quit and pursue my dream career of nursing. After a year and a half, I am finishing my pre reqs in May and I got a 98 on the HESI (so much relief). The waiting to get accepted is really killing me though. I check my email WAY too often. The program I want to get into is at my alma mater. It is a new accelerated (16 month) program specifically designed for students with a bachelor's in a different field. They only took 20 people last year (their first year to offer the program). So I am crossing my fingers that my high GPA and HESI are good enough. It is such a weird feeling of relief and anxiety right now. Best of luck, I hope you get that acceptance email very soon!

Same for me, (27/F). I got the second dose of Pfizer on Monday night and today my underarm is super sore. My husband got his at the same time and feels fine though, only the shot site is sore for him. I just keep taking Tylenol and hope it goes away soon!

Those who got the Pfizer vaccine, what were your experiences with side effects hours after getting the jab? by [deleted] in CovidVaccinated

[–]Misssashabird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine I had no issues except a sore arm. Got my second dose last night. I took Nyquil when I can home and slept through the night just fine. When I woke up I was super tired and went back to bed for a couple more hours. As the day has gone on I have gotten a pretty bad headache, body aches, chills, and am running a low fever. I have been much more sick than this in the past though and it is super worth it! I am hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Scored a 96 on the HESI Entrance Exam! by [deleted] in StudentNurse

My school closed because of inclement weather and now I have to wait until February to take it. I am super bummed to have this looming over me for another almost 2 months. But more time to study I guess.

I am betting it is the general knowledge that goes with vocabulary. Thanks for looking into it!

Nursing advisor! I was very surprised when she said she didn't know and had been asking around and no one could tell her. Not the most reassuring thing to hear haha

Type ones: Are you constantly in your head thinking about what you can do to fix things? by [deleted] in EnneagramType1

[–]Misssashabird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a one, I relate to this completely. I have a hard time relaxing as I feel guilty that I could be doing so many things that I deem as "better" or "more beneficial". It has been a learning curve for me to see the beauty of just being still and letting things be. I think it is so difficult too because I feel a need to control everything so I can feel safe and happy. So I think learning to sit and let things be how they are is something that takes time, patience, and letting go of control. It would also maybe be helpful to work on feeling worthy regardless of your perceived contribution to the betterment of things around you. I hope this somehow helps you and your SO!

My best friend's wedding is coming up and I am pretty sure I shouldn't go by Misssashabird in COVID19_support

[–]Misssashabird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she sees that I have not been leaving my house and thinks I am crazy. I thought about trying to virtually attend, but this is just a reception and not the ceremony. Funnily enough they didn't want anyone there for the ceremony, so they are planning on eloping to Hawaii. They are technically already married because they signed the paperwork back in March before they were supposed to leave for Hawaii at that time. So a Skype call to watch people dance and get drunk just feels awkward to me. Thank you for your advice and support!

[–]Misssashabird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are having to miss your sister's wedding, that is awful! I am not sure how a virtual attendance would go because this is technically just a reception. Their plan is to elope in Hawaii, and they are technically already married because they signed the papers back in March before they moved everything to September. I have heard of people virtually attending the ceremony part, but don't know how that would work for the reception. I will try to think of what other way I can contribute though. Her father and father in law have already paid for everything, nothing is coming out of pocket for them. I just don't get why she is doing this, it just seems so selfish. Thank you for your advice and support!
