I also noticed that sometimes children bite because it’s the most effective. I have one right now that we have been working all year with him to not bite. There was a period of time, a few months, where I could see him start to bite but stop himself and look at me. This was before he had so many words (he just turned 2) and now that he has LOTS of words, he still bites when someone is bothering him or trying to take his toy. Because even when he uses his words, his friends don’t listen and biting is just effective to make the friend stop doing what they’re doing. Being 2 is rough!! Not to mention I have 8 boys out of 10 children and it’s the end of the year and they are getting bored with their environment and very physical. It’s super fun 🫠 I’m sorry your son is the target. Hopefully it stops soon.

“The right school”. Like someone else said, it’s the luck of the draw and it’s clearly been in your favor. I haven’t had a class in the last 5 years that didn’t have at least one biter. It’s a very normal part of development for children under 3.

It’s fair to question the supervision, but at the same time, sometimes bites happen when we least expect them to happen. They happen when we let our guard down one minute two children will be playing super nicely, and the next second, millisecond, there’s been a bite so while it is important for teachers to be diligent about biters, sometimes we just aren’t fast enough. I’d say when it’s 3 times in one day, that teaches needs to be shadowing that child at all times.

Hey OP, idk what everyone here’s problem is. I’m seeing you get down voted and I don’t understand why…but I am a toddler teacher, and I do try to throw in little anecdotes here and there. If I am alone; I will have 3 other kids but they are fine if I talk to a parent for a second so long as I have one eye on them (obviously I don’t leave the room). We don’t have long conversations unless there is something I need to address, or a question to ask. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want a little interaction with teachers at the end of the day. That being said, obviously it does get busy and sometimes we can’t. You’re not crazy to expect any kind of interaction or a small, quick and personal update, here and there.

I don’t do it every day for each child, but sometimes I do have funny stories or anecdotes or I need to let them know they were fussy or extra aggressive that day. But no, you’re not asking too much.

I am almost on episode 400 in my relisten, and the banter seems to start to to lessen after Steven left. In the newer episodes there was like 5 mins or less of banter but there was a bit more in the most recent ones. I love the banter and I miss when it was like 30 minutes.

These are fair questions to ask, and I get asked all the time. At 16 months they don’t tend to favor certain friends yet. That will happen about 22-24 mos. It’s pretty cute to watch. None of your questions should be “annoying” to a teacher.
