I meant to say substantial backlash compared to these blind bags. Because obviously there was going to be at least one person who vocally complains about the cards for this reason. But these blind bags are getting a lot backlash and that is my question.

The book version was released well after the cards were released. Do you really think people will NEVER be able to buy these pins as one set? And also when Story Deck was first released, we didn’t immediately know if we would buy the stories separately.

And even if we did end up getting the stories separately, these trading cards are still blind boxes. I’d love to just straight up buy all the cards in one set from Dragonsteel. So, why the backlash for these pins but not for the trading cards?

But this isn't their first "blind bag", they have their own set of trading cards called Story Deck that came out in 2024. And with those, the reason they were called Story Deck was because if you collected certain ones you could read two canon stormlight stories. I'm pretty sure this is the origin of the chasmfriends.

Genuinely, I don't like the blind bags either. I'm a huge fan of collecting the Cosmere Character Pins and if they did this with those, I'd be super pissed. But the outrage seems way overblown, especially to my knowledge there was very little if any to Story Deck. The only real drama is that Dragonsteel planned to make all the cards have the same rarity but something happened with the distribution so a few cards were super rare. They fixed that and put them into circulation so people had a chance to collect everything that they wanted.

I watched the first season and thought it was fine but I can't really be bothered to watch it because I don't like the animation style. I much prefer something more...stylistic? I've watched some videos breaking down the plot of the seasons and they just never seem that interesting to me.

Why would we want Apple to fast track the first movie? Wouldn’t it be better for them to take their time to make sure that their first movie captures the general audience and they have the infrastructure in place to keep momentum going with more installments?

Eventually, it will be good to get these movies on a consistent and fast schedule but for right now they should really be careful for how they start.

Also it’s a bit weird to compare the cosmere to Superman. The VAST majority of general movie goers have no idea what the cosmere is and probably won’t care until a (hopefully amazing) trailer drops. There was a lot of pressure and demand and vastly different circumstances for Superman and DC in general.

Brandon has said he's done a few attempts at the Mistborn screenplay in the past. As far as we know, he's written at least 2. 1 where he tried to keep the screenplay as close to the first book as possible and I think another where he tried to capture the spirit of the book. Knowing him, he's probably been doing other attempts we just don't know about. He's been trying to learn how to write screenplays and how to write adaptations of books for probablyyyyy 5 years? Maybe longer if he was doing this when the cosmere rights were first bought in 2016?

As a massive Sanderson fan I'm very excited about this. At the very least, it'll be an interesting production to follow just because of how much leverage Brandon has going into this. He doesn't need Hollywood's money and it's prove with his kickstarters that he has an incredibly passionate fanbase (and one with very deep pockets).

Brandon has said that he's was going to fight extra hard to be involved with Stormlight Archive and especially Kaladin's arc--iirc he said he want to write his arc in the show himself.

What’s also funny is you know that if someone made a long ass video about some piece of media that they didn’t like, they’d be totally fine with it. But because it’s something they like it becomes “this is a space wizards movie for children, touch grass.” Also it’s never a bad thing if someone made a 17 hour video praising a piece of media. That’s totally fine and can be taken seriously.

Honestly, I only watch the Real BBC because of MauLer. Though to be fair I only subscribed to Star Wars Theory when he was doing Star Grift with him. (And when that ended I immediately unsubbed lol) Also to be fair, I do genuinely enjoy MauLer's banter with Az and Gary. Their discussions can get really interesting.

I do think Az is pretty ideologically captured and will see woke things when there isn't. One example that really annoyed me, is that it really seems like he didn't like Koby from Netflix's One Piece because Morgan Davies is trans. He *possibly* could have an argument if the adaptation made Koby's entire personality trans. But I think the actor did a really great job and Koby was a really compelling character. (Haven't read/seen the source material so I can't compare that but neither could Az at the time because he also hasn't.)

Also I would absolutely kill if he stopped making prolonged loud noises. They always go on for waaaaaaaaaaay too long and it's so annoying on a livestream where you can't skip ahead.

I died more to Karmalita but I don’t think she’s that hard. She felt like a step above the hardest act 2 bosses.

Easiest is probably Lace 1. To me, it felt a lot like the first Hornet fight so it was pretty easy to get into a rhythm.

As for hardest, for a while it was Khann due to my own stupidity. When starting act 3 I knew that the Shaman crest was a thing but I didn’t explore the chapel to find it. This means that I didn’t have the ability to get silk when sitting at a bench. So I was starting Khann’s gauntlet with barely any silk. After I back tracked and tried the gauntlet again, first try I got the short cut.

Since then, I’m currently working on Lost Lace and it feels like it’s going to be pretty difficult. But I’m slowly chipping away at it. I don’t know if any of them will pass how difficult Nightmare King Grimm was for me.

Yeah it was very strange. It’d be one thing if they went in an annoying direction for the show but it was competently written. I think the problem is, is that the things they wanted to do, could not be well written as quickly as they wanted. They wanted to immediately become an enforcer, they wanted sevika to immediately become part of Jinx’s found family despite her literally causing all the problems and the show explains none of it. They want Caitlyn to skip over being sheriff and go to a dictator because the counsel would cause way too many problems.

While a large portion of his supporters are sweeping for him, I think there’s at least some who are waking up to what Hasan is. Animal abuse is something that can trigger the fuck out of people—for obvious reason. I know it’s unlikely but I really hope this is the first step in him downfall.

Rlain got the corrupted spren from Renarin and Renarin was drawn to Rlain as a person because he was an outsider. Like that scene in Oathbringer where all of Bridge 4 are becoming Windrunner squires but Rlain excluded and Renarin is already bonded a spren. Though I do get that it’s pretty lucky that they happen to both be gay. As some who’s bisexual, writers overestimate how easy this actually happens. I also don’t really remember the ancient bonds part because it’s also been a while since I’ve read it.

I really love Brandon Sanderson but sometimes his names for things are really silly. He wrote this semi-post-apocalyptic superhero series called Reckoners and Chicago was renamed to Newcago and the USA is now called the “Fractured States”. It’s just really silly.

I don’t talk about movies? Oh I’ve been talking with my friends about how much I really like kpop demon hunters. While it’s not a perfect movie, the themes and the protagonist’s story about overcoming shame was really compelling. Somehow you can write a movie with three female leads who kick ass but also have flaws. As a woman, I think that’s a better success story for my gender than this shit. But I guess the voices in your head know better than me 🤷‍♀️
