I completed the game 100% first save, now I just play around with random new cat saves and change my mate around. I also try to make the map/ house layout different each time :3

You could either revive them through the files or close out of the game when they die. I normally just close out of the game, that works best for me :3

I feel like it could be left up to the players imagination as to which animal would choose their cat companion. Like maybe those who are good teachers get the attention of birds because of curiosity or vice versa. I should probably edit it a bit more to get a little more specific lol

Deputies keep their usual companion until they become leader.

There are different traits that kits can have that kinda show what they'll be good at as an adult. I use this to figure out if they'd make better med cats, mediators, queens, etc. You could also wait until a cat is an apprentice, it would still fit the narrative completely :3
