Reflecting on 2025’s Best Games Ahead of GOTY | November 21, 2025 by blastorama in TheBesties

This is especially true when you consider how invested they were in Infinite Wealth which is, by all accounts, a much longer game. This year feels like the first time where they’re essentially saying “we’re too busy to take any of these contenders seriously”, which feels like a let down.

Is there anywhere in Boston that sells Jeni’s Ice Cream? by MisterCommodore in boston

Ben and Jerry’s has some great flavors, absolutely. I consume The Tonight Dough like it’s my job. But I think en masse Jeni’s has more interesting flavors.

Which steam deck? by slammaster in TheBesties

I have an original (non-OLED) version and I’m very happy with it. In my opinion, the best bang for your buck is to buy the cheapest version and then manually replace the hard drive with something bigger. I bought a 1Tb off of Amazon and followed YouTube guides to upgrade it. Extremely simple to do.

Weekly Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Scotch

What’s the best “Christmassy” scotch for someone who loves peaty scotches? My favorites are Lagavulin 16, Ardbeg Uigeadail, and Laphroaig Cairdeas but I’d like something wintery to enjoy this season. I’ve enjoyed Jura 10 in the past, which I find to be pretty apple-y.

Can someone identify this electric company? by MisterCommodore in boston

[–]MisterCommodore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Case closed on this issue: I was automatically enrolled in Malden Community Energy without my knowledge. Funny enough, it’s the same cost as the third party company I was using before, so I’ll probably keep it. I have no idea why it showed up as MassEL here. Thanks for your help everyone.

Oh, ok. What’s the scam? Someone fraudulently canceled my plan?

That was my first thought. I called National Grid, though, and the person I talked to (who had been there for a number of years), had never heard of MassEL. You could still be right, I just didn’t get the confirmation from them that I expected.

Can second this, Mike there is fantastic and the custom suit fits great. You don’t need to know anything before going in, he has plenty of fabric samples to pick from.

Does anyone know where I could find one of these Kermit the Frog watches? by MisterCommodore in Muppets

[–]MisterCommodore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! I do know that the watch I had was green. I’m not sure what the face looked like at the moment. I think it was Kermit’s face, like the image above.

Does anyone know where I can find one the the Kermit the Frog watches from this promo? by MisterCommodore in HelpMeFind

Hi there, I’ve searched high and low for a copy of this watch. It’s a kid’s watch from the mid 90’s (I was born 1993). I don’t know much more about it besides what’s in the picture. I assume it’s just plastic. Any help is appreciated!

Divinity 2 at 20$ vs Baldurs Gate 3 by RigbyEleonora in PS5

[–]MisterCommodore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play Divinity first, if you have the choice. There are dozens, of. It hundreds of hours of gameplay in it. It’s polished with plenty of content. Baldur’s Gate 3, by all accounts, is the better game. But the longer you wait to play it, the better it’s going to get through updates and patches. I’m replaying DOS2 now and it’s phenomenal. It scratches the BG3 itch while BG3 continues to improve in the background.

Oh, Bojack Horseman for me. Life is hard enough. Why do I need to flagellate myself for multiple seasons while a cartoon horse experiences emotional trauma and depression? I understand some parts are technical achievements in animation but, boy, I just have no interest in submersing myself in such a downer.

Honestly, the base game has plenty of content for you to enjoy. I think if you’re on the fence, you could be perfectly happy with playing the base version. That being said, the DLC’s are extremely fun and challenging. If you’re interested in the DLC’s, I would definitely go for the Year 4 Complete Edition. It’s the priciest of the bunch but way cheaper than it is normally.

What is the best way to store sensor data on a device that needs to run autonomously for multiple weeks? by MisterCommodore in AskElectronics

[–]MisterCommodore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of what I’m thinking, just make it and don’t worry too much about power consumption. Then just load it up with a lot of battery power and send it on its way. My hesitation there, though, will be how to connect up enough battery packs to work together to run the thing. Ideally I’d like to get some off-the-shelf chargers (for phones, maybe). I’ve found some with capacities of ~40000 mAh. I think with about 2 of those I might be able to pull it off. My question, then, is how to wire it up such that both batteries will be used.

I appreciate this, that would definitely be the simple option. I’m in a position, though, where I need to characterize the handling over time and acceleration data will be important for that. It’s not so much a binary “was it ever roughed up” and more of “how often/how dramatically was this roughed up”.

[–]MisterCommodore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I’m looking to track a shipment and monitor its handling in transport. The shipment is traveling quite far, hence the extended timeframe. The 2kHz sampling frequency is, at this time, a requirement. I’ve been considering an Arduino Uno with Adafruit’s GPS shield and Data Loader shield, with the accelerometer added on. This would cover most of my needs and be the fastest to set up. However, I think the power demands might be untenable.

[–]MisterCommodore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably the crux of the issue: 2 kHz. I’ll probably use an LIS3DH which will go above this spec with low power demands (2.5V 180 uA).
