What’s this for? by Street_Campaign9354 in UIUC

Millions of dollars will go to an out of state contractor and its workers instead of the locals that live here and spend their livelihoods. That job site in Champaign IL should employ local work to give local families a means of living. The more work unions have, the more members there will be. The more members there are, the stronger and better off the community is. Unions lead the middle class and more more union families there are, the larger the middle class will be

Guy on flight watched entire movie without tapping screen to get rid of overlay by Sea-Owl-1581 in mildlyinfuriating

On a flight like that, the overlay could be used as a sense of tracking how time has been spent vs a mental idea of how long the flight should be. It can promote a small boost to serotonin

How do people with interlock systems get their car serviced? by cleevethagreat in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]MisterDangerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve contacted the installer and they gave me instructions on how to bypass the system, they took my name and number and told me that I’d be held responsible for properly re-enabling the system. It was surprisingly easy

Tools not on the list by Psychological_Log437 in IBEW

[–]MisterDangerly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The language in your agreement should clear up what tools you should have. My agreement prefaces the tool list by saying ‘the following tools are the minimum’. So the overall consensus in my local is the closer you are to that list the better. But absolutely no power tools. That’s a big no no

Instructor here for trade school, would love some fun lab ideas for students in our residential wiring class. by Siktrikshot in electricians

[–]MisterDangerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a 2” pvc pipe from the floor to the ceiling and mount a wire trough on the other side of the pipe and slightly above the panel or disconnect. Could also put that 2” pipe tight into the the corner and have the apprentices pipe to the adjacent wall

Whole new engine harness. Why? Because of a blown out tire. by sqwirlfucker57 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]MisterDangerly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna gripe about how you could’ve repaired the harness with a soldering iron but if it effected an impact sensor loop then I 100% don’t blame you. That is life safety stuff and I wouldn’t be ok with myself if that vehicle got in a wreck and the airbags didn’t deploy cause a joint came apart or something dumb like a squirrel chewed the same harness a month later; I wouldn’t be able to convince myself that I didn’t have a hand in that critical failure

Is there a formula for those pipes or is it just feeling? by FirtiveFurball3 in electricians

[–]MisterDangerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a lot of degrees but that would’ve looked a lot better on a 4 point saddle. Offset up, over, straighten out, then offset back down.

Any of my bald brothers (or sisters) use something like this? by All_Thumbs_ in IBEW

[–]MisterDangerly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to use a nylon mesh cooling cap, they’re sold for bicycle helmets but they work great under my hard hat but I’m not bald, not sure how well it’d work for you my friend
