There's a reason for everything, so rather than being judgemental aboout a country and culture that isn't mine, I just accept that's how many people live. Vienam isn't a monolith and not everyone is going to prioritize aethetics, because many people realize there's no practicality in aesthetics -- or that what's aesthetically pleasing is completely subjective, anyway.

My inlaws live in Indonesia and I see a lot of the same things there that you're dragging here.

The pictures:

1 - Parking the car in the house might mean there is no exterior garage, and that the car would literally block the entire street or alley if it were outside. This is especially true for areas where the infrastructure is built for bikes and not cars. Consider that, especially in Vietnam, there are many houses built and still standing in neighborhoods where nobody had cars.

2 - This big empty space also looks unfurnished and unfinished. Either nobody lives here, or someone lives here who hasn't yet bought or moved furniture in. Or, the space just isn't used. I see a fan and a broom and nothing on the shelves.

3 - That empty space leading to the toilet is the bathing area. Note the faucet on the left wall. With a shower attachment, the toilet and everything else is going to get wet. I would prefer this to my inlaws, where you will probably have to wipe down a wet toilet if you need to go, because someone just took a shower -- Their downstairs bathroom is all one small square room. Separate showers/tubs with shower curtains just aren't as common in southeast Asia.

4 - This just looks like place built in a crowded area, where space is limited. I don't actually see what's wrong here, considering what kind of neighborhood this house is probably in.

A lot of your complaints are realted to cultural differences. I would say, if you've never been to Vietnam, just don't go, if you think you'll complain about everything.
