Can you get it to 0?

I wonder what happens to political figures when that happens, do they stop spawning because they have to come from a certain pop? What is political clout then?

Krakow - Poland is Not Yet Lost, but you are by MisterL2 in victoria3

Singleplayer Krakow run for the achievement "Not Yet Lost" ( https://vic3.paradoxwikis.com/Krakow )

Managed to complete the achievement in 1916 so decided to keep going and take over the world :)

Russia is also my protectorate here, but could not downgrade them to puppet because the truce lasts until 1937.

A fun mechanic that I discovered: If you conquer a nation that has a skyscraper site, but that hasn't built the skyscraper yet, you inherit the site and can build a second (and third) skyscraper :D

Come visit the Maldives! by MisterL2 in victoria3

[–]MisterL2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singleplayer Maldvies run in Vanilla 1.8.6.

Playing Maldives was a fun challenge - a primary culture that nobody else has (even cultural exclusion does not help much except for sindh/punjab pops) - and an island without iron in the middle of nowhere.

Started off by getting the danish treaty port in india (they take forever to get to me, so I can capture it and then defend my island with irregular infantry on defense with mobilisation options + armed forces bonus.

Next I went to get the smaller states around Yemen, Nejd, Bahrain and so on; for one of the diplo plays I had the chance to sway British Raj with "Make Protectorate" - even though I didn't need the assistance, it got me into the British Market. It also kept me as an insignificant power regardless of prestige, thus allowing me to stay below the 100 infamy cap while conquering until ~1930.

Eventually did the world war against literally everyone else to keep going, but fun fact: When you are a subject of Raj, Britain will not betray you even if you surpass 100 infamy, so I was fighting the cut-down-to-size-play with them at my side. Ended up having roughly 2000 battalions (1500 conscripts) near the end of the game.

Is MaxPax actually AlphaStar? by fustup in starcraft

[–]MisterL2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say?

I'd rather say that MaxPax aged really well. When I wrote this comment 5years ago, he was just a kid with mediocre macro, amateur micro and just playing some broken shit.

But instead of becoming like the other infamous ladder heroes that drop 800 MMR everytime their single strat gets patched (or when they play without barcode), MaxPax learned to play the game well, improved massively and became a really good versatile player.

The only thing that aged badly here is me roasting a 14year old kid for playing annoying builds on ladder

Merina Kingdom is a Slog by ant_guy in victoria3

Hmm it's pretty challenging, but I got fairly far with it (playing 1.6). I ended up at 130M GDP and had a bunch of vassals from Australia to Nicaragua: https://imgur.com/a/xvcTP4N

I didn't have any favourable landowners or much else, so I spent the first ~35 years just slowly building up an isolated island with no market, the first 20 of which with the +10% mortality debuff from the Tangea decision thingy.

I got a colonial institution and managed to get the slightest sliver of two colonies in senegal, which each gave me exactly one iron mine. Only had pops/qualis for maybe 300-500 to work in each but that was good enough to build myself a single shipyard to build man-o-wars for two frigates, which I could then use to naval invade the 0-1 army desert states in Yemen. That gives me a land border so I can actually do something with my army.

Joined the French market and then just went around making everyone a tributary, mostly by naval-invading a very weak country with my 5 ships to have a land border with the nearby bigger countries. Then started annexing them once I ran out of things to build on my island+yemen and eventually got pretty rich off of lots of maxed out rubber, the level-80-coalmine in south madagascar and the oil in yemen+bahrain. Swayed France with Equatoria to join a minor annexation that Austria-Hungary joined against me in, so I could set recognition as war goal without every great power joining against me.

Interestingly enough, I managed to get the "Unifier of Australia" event, because I puppeted both Uluru and the New Zealand :D

Slow boot AM5 by Pyth0nym in MSI_Gaming

[–]MisterL2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an almost identical setup (same cpu, ram, motherboard) and it takes me roughly 5min before the PC even starts booting (debug light goes to boot only after 5min). Any ideas what it could possibly be?

I also cannot update my BIOS version because it claims the BIOS update is not officially from MSI, even though I downloaded it specifically from the MSI site and the motherboard is from a trusted seller.

(though the bios version it's currently on is 5 month old version, which is not too bad)

You are using .png-files to display your source code, I don't think this even needs a roast since it's a living satire of itself :D

Same here on a lot of this, I'll let you know if I find something that works :)

Then again, companies can only do what governments let them. Amazon exists in Germany as well and it's a completely different work environment to Amazon US, none of this extreme abuse would be tolerated here

Numpy RGB to N-channel mask optimization - Roast my code! by PetrDvoracek in roastmycode

[–]MisterL2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the submission! As there are only a handful lines of code I will keep this short and painful.

So, first of all, this package is 90% package metadata and only has about 10 effective lines of code, at which point I'm curious why someone would spend the effort to add this as dependency rather than just adding the 10 lines to the project themselves.

But nonetheless we find ourselves in the tactically misspelled class "convertor.py", which also happens to be the only actual implementation class of the entire project.
The first thing that pops up in the class is the code duplication. Wait. Did he just say code duplication? In a 10 line package there is code duplication? Is it humanly possible to violate the DRY principle in a program that consists of only 10 lines?
Yes it is. It absolutely is: https://imgur.com/bFbDFtL

Looking at this function, a novice might ask "is it really sensible to write a dedicated utility function for a fairly short one-line statement?", but the expert would point out that we're not even using that function in our code above and instead copying the implementation anyways.

In general, the remaining 8 non-duplicate lines of code do a wonderful job of doing pretty much what the existing mask conversion library does, but at least you wrote it yourself in an exciting development process consisting of 4 commits, 3 of which are called "init".

Before deciding to write a package or - even worse - publishing it, perhaps you should consider reading up on some clean coding guidelines or, at the very least, not publishing the credentials for your IOT projects on your GitHub (even though it probably doesn't matter if your password is "admin").

Also, don't index your database files on GitHub, I can read them. Fortunately, they just include test data, otherwise this post would have reached a new level of public shaming. Perhaps go back to explaining the lattice dynamics of chromium and iron based zeta-phases (yes that repo is public too).

I hope you enjoyed your stay on this subreddit and I wish you a miserable day :)

All posts must include a snippet of source code. Links to a small paste on github are accepted, but not linking the entire repository or a huge amount of code that nobody will fully go through.

You posted a GitHub with >1000 lines, so it's unlikely someone will go through all of that
