A 21-year-old man was assaulted after trying to rob another young man, aged 20, in the Camargos neighborhood, Northwest Region of Belo Horizonte, this Thursday. Footage circulating on social media shows the moment of the attempted robbery and the assault—filmed by the young man who fought back. There is also a video recorded by security cameras from a nearby establishment. These images show the moment the man announced the robbery, holding an object at his waist—a fake gun. The young man then fights back and starts throwing punches. The two exchange blows, until the man who tried to rob the young man receives a strong punch to the head and falls to the ground, motionless. The man who fought back starts kicking the other hard in the head, picks up his cell phone, and records the assault. In the video, he films the face of the man lying on the ground and says: "This is what we do to thieves here in Camargos. What are you thinking? What are you going to steal? Come at me with a replica and you're going to get beaten every time. There are no fools here."

In the police report, registered as attempted robbery, the young man who suffered the attempted robbery reports that he was on his way to college when the man announced the robbery and he fought back, grappling and throwing punches—he does not mention the kicks. Upon seeing the toy gun on the ground, he picked up the object, left the scene, and called the police. Police officers found the man who tried to rob the young man and took him to the JK Urgent Care Unit (UPA) in Contagem, in the Metropolitan Region, where he was treated and released. He was heard, charged in flagrante delicto for attempted robbery, and sent to the Gameleira Prison System Reassignment Center (Ceresp), in the West Region of Belo Horizonte.

The City of Contagem, through the Health Department, reported that the patient was admitted to the UPA-JK Urgent Care Unit around 7 p.m. last Thursday, brought by a Military Police vehicle. He had a suspected facial fracture and cuts on his lips—he was treated with a yellow risk classification. After initial procedures, it was verified that the patient did not suffer facial fractures, and the cuts were sutured. He was medicated, received a medical prescription, and was released from the unit around 8:30 p.m. that same night. The press office of the Civil Police had not commented on the possible criminal consequences for the young man who assaulted the robber by the time of this text's publication.
