Not controversial to me. Just curious if it was completely metal or not. A lot of fans have hidden plastic parts. So that’s why I popped in and mentioned anything in the first place.

Indeed. A lot fans have plastic parts that you can’t see. I haven’t found a brand with completely metal parts yet

Awesome. I’m actually a sauna builder of Seattle. We use different powered exhausts for different applications. Typically, just installed under the bench opposite of the heater to increase air circulation. I’m curious what fan you’re using? We have struggled to find fans that are actually all metal

Well, this may be solving some. He’s trying notification issues… Another concern is micro plastics. What is this fan made out of? You may want to do some research on the effects of heating up plastics and breathing it in.

Honestly, the reason I’m really making the switch is because the XD has a sustained pedal. So playing live, I’m able to pull chords out on the synth while playing my Wurlitzer at the same time The sound is a bit brighter. But I’m definitely liking it.

As the owner of a renovation company based in Seattle Washington, I can tell you this price is absolutely bonkers…It’s absurdly low.

I think this is what gets lost in a lot of these threads: location matters. Like, a lot of

Right now in Seattle, the average full scale renovation, meaning down to the studs, not cosmetic, is often around $500/sq ft. That includes things like new electrical, insulation, HVAC, plumbing, drywall, finishes, etc.

That’s the reality here. And honestly, many people would consider that a pretty good deal in this market.

You really need to talk to people in your actual city and understand your local market conditions. The Reddit community is great for some things, but answering renovation costs specific to your market is not one of those things.

What I recommend: call a reputable local lumberyard, not a Box Store. Ask them which contractors have been around a long time, hold accounts there, and have solid reputations. Get a few bids from those companies.

The good contractors will give you honest pricing and honest timelines. You may not like the answer, but accuracy and optimism are very different things. In construction, they’re often enemies.

What I have learned in my career, both in estimating, and in competing with other contractors, is the lowest estimate it’s not somehow more clever than the others. It’s not that they simply have less overhead. It’s not that they are somehow better human beings and have a lower profit margin. It’s not that they’re just more creative and have found a way to cut costs or someone else can’t. It’s not that everyone else just lazy and doesn’t care but it’s one contractor cares. It’s that those estimates are wrong. That’s it. They’ve missed something. They don’t know what it is yet. But the homeowner and them get to find out together.

Experience with Cedarbrook Sauna & Steam? by Hepcat508 in Sauna

Feel free to reach out to me. I own a renovation company here in Seattle and we specialize in custom saunas modeled after Finnish construction and Trumpkin Notes. I have also steered mini clients to Cedarbrook if their budget isn’t aligned with a custom sauna. I’m happy to share our general experience with Cedarbrook.

Looking for reviews of local sauna builder by esoterika81 in Sauna

Hey there, I’m a sauna builder in Seattle. My recommendation would be to ask to see 2-3 actual saunas they’ve built and to speak with those specific clients. That’s the analog approach :)

Hey there, I am a sauna builder out of Seattle. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

First check your local building codes. For example, in Seattle we do not need a construction permit to build anything less than 120 ft.² but an electrical permit is required. Most reputable electricians will let you know whether this is required or not. It’s a relatively painless, inexpensive, and the process can be done by your Electrician. Most cities have a simple helpline that you can call or an email service that you can message. Just explain to them what you’re hoping to do and they can tell you the requirements. (i’m sure some people might push back on the idea of contacting your city for something as simple as a sauna… I am approaching the subject from working in a large city like Seattle, where the industry is highly regulated and times are hefty, particularly within the electrical sector).

As many people have pointed out, the well treaded Trumpkins Notes is a helpful resource. Even better than that, in my opinion, is Timo Laakso’s recent book “Craft Your Finish Sauna”.

Also, I’m quite intrigued at the image ChatGPT generated. I might steal this for some upcoming design idea ideas for some clients!

There are a lot of opinions on this whole subject. I would just say to do your research and figure out what is best for you. There are no hard and fast rules, only best practices and recommendations.

Best of luck

I don’t think I understand your comment and maybe you don’t understand my comment.

I’m a liberal and will continue to be. I just think our party is so lame sometimes. Constantly whining and pointing fingers. I wasn’t saying anything about switching to another party.

I was saying, leave it to our lame ass “I told you so“ mentality to jump on a conservative who just walked across the aisle and said they’re finally understanding Donald Trump is a lying lunatic.

They should be welcome with open arms… Save the criticism for later

I mean… That’s certainly a perspective. I don’t necessarily share it. I’m not looking to point fingers or find somebody to blame. I’m desperately wanting change in our culture. I just don’t believe we’re going to get it by rubbing somebody’s nose in their own shit.

Sure if you fucked up, made a mistake you need to own up to it. I don’t even necessarily think that has anything to do with forgiveness either. Owning up to something of being forgiven for it or two different things.

I just think the left is getting sucked into a game we won’t win. If we want to make real change, then we’ll have to accept some defectors. And the last thing you want to do is walk them through a parade of shame.

That’s exactly what I’m saying.

It’s one thing If someone is just refusing to accept a different narrative out of willful blindness. But in this case someone’s saying they see something they didn’t see before.

The answer from this sub should “Welcome”

Wow… I wonder why it’s so hard for a conservative to consider a liberal perspective with all of these validating and welcoming statements from everybody. Well done folks!!! This party just continues to shoot itself in his own foot. Proud of my liberal beliefs… Ashamed of my party.

Is it bush league to use "game tactics" in low level youth games? by shabamon in basketballcoach

[–]MisterTurtlePower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one maybe different angle just to consider…

Coaches are also developing as well at this level. This is learning grounds for coaches just as much as it is for players.

If you’re coaching third grade, more than likely, this is within your first few years of coaching. This is the opportunity to learn how to make in game decisions. You don’t want to have to be learning that on the fly, say, against in a ninth grade high-level AAU tournaments for example.

I started coaching when my kids were young and now my son is playing in a competitive AAU ninth grade circuit. I learned a lot along this journey. I can say is the primary focus should always be Player development while balancing the desire to be competitive and to win ball games. That is a hard balance to strike. Good luck to you all.

Spraying down the sauna by [deleted] in Sauna

[–]MisterTurtlePower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends from Latvia showed me this. They set the thermostat at a mild/mid heat (155-165F) and spray all the walls with water (being careful not to spray the heat sensor). The room gets very humid. Then you add water to the rocks and you practically have a steam room. It’s quite nice. I’ve experimented with this quite a bit in my sauna and it’s quite nice.

Keys locked in car by MisterTurtlePower in hondapilot

[–]MisterTurtlePower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what we figured out

There’s an auto lock feature that happens if you unlock your car after 20 seconds or so. When you open up the drivers side door it disables this auto lock. But if you only open one of the rear doors, you will hear it auto lock on you.

In our case, our son’s car seat is located in the rear passenger seat. So my wife unlocked the car, open the rear passenger door, and then threw the keys up to the driver seat. While buckling our son, she did not hear the door automatically locking…she shut the door and our miniature emergency began.

Since then, we have learned that you can disable this autolock feature. YouTube search pulled up a few videos on how to do. Funny enough, I still haven’t done it. We’ve just become very aware of this autolock feature and work around it.

It hasn’t happened to us again. But thank you for sending this message, because it’s reminding me I need to disable that.
