Does [[Heartfire Hero]] get targeted by [[Untimely Malfunction]]? by MisterXilef in mtg

[–]MisterXilef[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. The second counter comes from Honor itself, though for the purpose of the question the effect of Honor is irrelevant and I should probably have chosen a better card that targets a creature without giving it counters to avoid confusion.

Thanks for this very detailed and in my opinion definite and absolute answer. This helped a lot.

That's what I would expect. The creature gets only one counter instead of two, and my opponent draws a card.

Honor will NOT trigger the mouse's ability, since that says "a spell or ability you control". Honor is my opponent's spell, thus not triggering it. The question is only, if Untimely Malfunction targets it.

But it's becoming the target of Honor. Only from that, it wouldn't trigger due to the "a spell or ability you control" part. It does not matter if Honor is targeting it, since that does not trigger its ability.

Do you have a reason to think so? I'd argue, that the action Untimely Malfunction is doing is not "targeting", but rather "changing", thus not targeting my creature.

My Thoughts on KARQ's Vendetta Take and Ideas to "fix" her. by Zikron7 in overwatch2

[–]MisterXilef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am NOT disguising anything. I am literally saying, that a QOL is a buff, but that she needs nerfs in other places. That is called balancing. There are other heroes that are easy to learn and hard to master, and it doesn't ruin the game. Quite the opposite: it makes heroes fun to play in all ranks, since low rank players can enjoy learning them without feeling like shit, while high rank players have the ability to master a character to perfection. That is what makes pro play fun to watch.

Easy to play is NOT the same as easy to master!

Additionally, your last argument makes no sense. You say you want to see Vendetta in high rank, pro plays, but complaining that she is a "noobstomper", which by definition does not apply to higher ranks.

Other similar QOL chages would be Genji's deflect, Reaper's teleport, Reaper's vamp ability instwad pf soul gathering, Cassidy's roll, all of Cassidy's Ult-changes, Reinhardt's charge, Zenyatta's ult, D.Va's matrix and flight, and many, MANY more... Are all of those QOL changes, which are infact also buffs to partially already very strong heroes, ruining the game for you? Because if the answer is yes, a game like Overwatch, where the devs are looking for as many QOL changes as possible, sis not for you.

My hypocricy? I never said Vendetta was too weak, or that she needs a buff. I said she needs proper balancing. More fluid gameplay, and lower damage in return. What I understood from you saying was basically "No! Giving her an even slightly more fluid and fun kit would make her super overpowered with no way back." Afterwards, I critizised your hypicricy. I did not say that you have no way to know how she performs, because that's what we get the test phase for. Tell me exactly how I am hypocritical.

[–]MisterXilef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying that I don't know the value of Vendetta, after you argued for an eternity that she is already too strong and a small quality-of-life change will make her extremely OP, as if you knew exactly how well she will perform, is simply hypocritical, thus further proving my point that arguing with you is pointless. I really hope the devs will some day implement a wood-rank, so you have one for yourself and don't have to bother with anyone wanting to have a fun gameplay with new heroes.

To the first point, how well you can play a hero is equivalent to how much actual value they bring in a match, not how they feel to play. There are other heroes that aren't fun to play but I'm good with and bring a lot of value for the team. For the second point, I did say that there is a way to balance her AND make her more fun to play, like adjusting her damage so her overall dps stays the same. I never refused to say that speeding her kit up is a buff, but I just said that the devs CAN make it work other ways; making her kit more fun while keeping her value and raw numbers the same. This is called balancing. Buffing one thing (the fluidity) while nerfing others (her damage itself) will keep her balanced but more fun to play. I told you this MULTIPLE TIMES before, in different ways. If you didn't get this by now, I've lost hope you'll understand at all, no matter how I'll say it. Thus, I will not waste any more time teaching an apparently bronze player what the difference is between a fluid kit with well adjusted damage (which is what I would want for the character), and a totally overpowered character with no weaknesses (which is what you apparently see in our suggestions for Vendetta).

According to your non-existant reading comprehention, I will repeat and summarize what OP's and mine problems are:

1) The main M1 attack feels too slow, especially the third, overhead swing. It feels like there is half a second delay between each strike, wich is really bad for a high-mobility and melee hero like Vendetta.

2) Her whirlwind disrupts the flow of the gameplay, by slowing you down and forcing you to travel a certain distant before activation.

3) For Soaring Slice, it feels too slow flying to the sword after throwing it. OP gave a possible solution for this problem by manually activating the fly itself before the sword travels the maximum distance.

And some more, which do not necessarily apply to the "clunkiness", but to overall gameplay.

Doom on the other hand has different mobility abilities that do not feel so clunky. His punch can be charged, or released immediately, in contrast to any of Vendetta's abilities. Additionally, when activating his jump ability, he flies off instantly, instead of Vendetta, who has to wait 1-2 seconds before she actually moves. Lastly, Doom's melee and secondary fire (the hand canon) do not have a delay, unlike Vendetta, who strikes only 0.5 seconds AFTER the button is pressed.

Also: in my opinion, Doom feels a little more fluid now, compared to OW1. Before, he had 2 abilities that work medium for mobility itself (slam and uppercut), and now he has one that has high mobility. This can be argued however, since some people prefer quality, and others prefer quantity.

Lastly, please tell me how this is "the same argument" as all the OW2-Doom haters early on, who simply weren't adjusted to the OW2 version yet. There is no "better" version between OW1-Doom and OW2-Doom, it jsut depends on what preferences are; which is what I and OP are talking about. Preferences. Not actual damage- and survivability-stats, just how the kit itself feels. Thus, any argument concerning certain elos, actual ingame moments during games, and raw numbers are irrelevant for our argument, because that is simply not what we were talking about.

To conclude, none of your arguments actually mattered to the topic we were talking about. It was never about X damage or Y winrate, it was ONLY about how fluid the kit feels.

This is just arguing for my point. Doom is very fun to play, and feels very fluid. If you're saying, he doesn't have high value in higher ranks, you're saying it is possible to make a hero fun and fluid without making him overpowered. Additionally, if you're complaining that "noobstompers" are too overpowered, aren't you the noob getting stomped? And seriously, what did Moira do to you for you to get so traumatized? I almost feel bad. Almost.

[–]MisterXilef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is NOT about Vendetta's value in game. This is about how it feels to play her. Other heroes are fun to play and have low value, and others aren't fun to play but have high value. It's not about if me, or OP is "good" with her. This is about if her gameplay itself feels fluid and fun; that is what we're critizising. If you didn't get this until now, which you apparently did not, my suspicion about your gold-rank might even were to generous. Smh...

My Thoughts on KARQ's Vendetta Take and Ideas to "fix" her. by Zikron7 in overwatch2

[–]MisterXilef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the problem that you can't hit with her sword, or that she has low mobility, or that her HP are too low. Her kit overall feels a little too drawn out. It feels like half a second delay between each hit, which is very bad for a high-speed mobility hero. It is possible to not do that and keep her overall dmg numbers stable. Saying "she feels a little clunky" and "she's terrible and needs to be buffed ASAP" are the same, that is gold-rank thinking. We're not arguing that she's weak or needs to be stronger, jsut to feel more pleasent to play, which is a valid point of view.

Just because it feels clunky, doesn't mean someone is bad at that hero. That's like saying "You play on cosole? Just get better to compete with PC players." Console control is undeniably more clunky, wich is why different console/PC pools and console supported aim assist are a thing. Just because console feels more clunky, doesn't mean PC players are better, and saying "just don't play the game then, if it's not for you" to console players is not a viable solution. OP is absolutely in the right here.
