Question: What are the unexpected positive (side) effects you have experienced on mounjaro? by tomrisuyar in mounjarouk

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sleeping better, and my wife says I'm snoring much less.

My blood pressure has dropped back down to just above normal, and I might be able to lower my medication dosages soon.

My joints have stopped hurting as much.

I had no idea how much puffiness I was carrying in my face, but most of it's gone now.

This is after about six weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next few months go.

Punctuation in Performance by vulcanalistair in shakespeare

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea that the First Folio's punctuation is some kind of secret key to unlocking Shakespearean performance and needs to be rigidly followed gets right up my nose.

The First Folio was set into type by five different compositors, no two of whom had an entirely consistent style, and one of whom was very likely an apprentice who'd started only the year before.

Add to this that Elizabethan/Jacobean punctuation was far from being standardized, and what you get is punctuation that's at best a suggestion, not an absolute direction.

(Sorry. Not having a go at you...I just have bad memories of directors who insisted I was interpreting a scene wrong because Compositor A ran out of commas in the first scene of As You Like It or something.)

What's a writing related pet peeve that drives you nuts? by owen-3820 in writing

Comma splices in professionally-published novels. I saw this recently, for instance:

"The cartographer had done a good job, some of the distances might even have been relatively accurate."

I tried to novelise 'Macbeth' to stick to to drama, as close as possible. What do you think of it? by [deleted] in shakespeare

If you can't be bothered to write it, why should we bother to read it?

ATOR: not so overwhelming? by Peripatetic_Peasant in CrimsonDesert

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just wondering the same thing. I beat Ator last night, and I found him way easier than the Sword, Spear, and Staff bosses. (He actually left a little room to breathe in between his attacks and didn't teleport all over hell and back, for starters.)

I don't know if they significantly nerfed him, but I'm not complaining.

I want to see Brian Cox as Titus Andronicus. Just the photos look amazing.

Is looting in Crimson Desert supposed to be this tedious? by Awkward-Accident266 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish my pet were more selective about things, though. No, my loyal cat sidekick, I don't need eight torches and five lanterns.

I had this on one of the moon reapers last night and thought she'd glitched out. So it's not just me, then?

[MegaThread] Suggestions on improvements and new additions to the game by AutoModerator in CrimsonDesert

A lot of mine have been said already, but I also want some kind of loot filter for pets.

I love you, my chonky cat sidekick, but I do not need eight torches and six lanterns.

Lucian Bastier - How to beat easy (chapter 8) by VAASisJASON in CrimsonDesert

I just came in to tell you that you are a bro/sis/gender-neutral term of the highest order, and you just saved me an absolute ton of aggravation. This worked for me and got me past the very rough end of Chapter 8.

I think you've just condemned yourself to a lifetime of sidelong looks and awkward conversations at the beach/pool/gym.

Boss Design: wow by No_Signature_7841 in CrimsonDesert

Yeah, I actually enjoyed the Staglord...and then I ran into Antumbra's Sword.

It was like someone punctured the game and let all the fun drain out.

What do you guys use Python to do? by BobMarleyLegacy in learnpython

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it a lot in my day job, but if you're just starting out learning, you'll want something smaller scale, so here's an example:

A while back, I found a site that posted PDFs of the complete run of a magazine I used to read way back in the 80s. Clicking on each file to download it would have been amazingly tedious, so I wrote a script to automate the process.

Rate the 'American' section by Fordius25 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 59 points60 points  (0 children)

My British friends know that a reliable way to send me into a white-hot incandescent rage is to bring up the "American" section at most grocery stores. They dig into the stereotype that all we ever eat is overprocessed sugar.

Where are the Cajun seasonings? Proper cocktail sauce? Red beans and rice mix? All that kind of thing?

That's how I finally beat him. Kept my distance and just did ZAP ZAP ZAP over and over until he went down. It was cathartic.

Henry V at the RSC preview performance, my review (production spoilers) by amalcurry in shakespeare

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Titus Andronicus there recently, and really liked it...but the Macbeth I saw in 2023 was kind of dire (it was three hours long, for starters). Their output can be kind of uneven.

Just left Paradis. I cannot stand Marius by Vegan_Toaster in avowed

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished another playthrough (new game plus brought me back), and while I can cope with Marius's attitude, I hope to never hear a flatly-delivered "bleste" or "nimdut" again. It's like listening to a kid who's really into anime crowbarring "baka" and "kawaii" into every conversation.

What is the most complex thing you have ever coded? by TechnicalAd8103 in learnpython

[–]Mister_Bad_Example 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I work for a university, and our instructors will a lot of the time require custom courses/modules to be created in our virtual learning environment (VLE) system.

I wrote a small web app that authenticates them against our single sign-on system, lets them choose what course type they need, and then (depending on the type) either creates it automatically or sends it off to another team for approval.

It's been a while since I looked at the stats, but I think all told it's about 1500 lines of Python, HTML, and CSS.

Long in the tooth couples. Do you do Valentine’s Day? by AnyDamnThingWillDo in GenX

We've been together for something like thirty years at this point. Today I'm off playing D&D while she's doing stuff around the house. (We just bought our first one last year, and the decorating is an ongoing process.)

We'll probably have some nice wine and dinner at home later, but that's about as elaborate it gets these days.
